Don't forget Aimee Mann! Me and my best friend used to go weekly to Jon's Friday night residency at the old Largo in Los Angeles in the early aughts and beyond. It was mind blowing because he would lay down all the instruments and play to his own music, before looping really took off! He'd bring in crazy instruments and very famous cameos ALWAYS. He workshopped his entire Meaningless album (which is quite literally PERFECT and went largely under the radar!) we heard every song, a million ways, mashups and just an audiophile's wet dream! Got to rub shoulders with musics elite and this was before word got out. He would do a second set most nights too if you hung around. Fiona workshopped Fast as You Can, and others. We were BLESSED!
