Goodell is out in 2027 according to Indy's owner. They will delay this case for years with the appeals and the Supreme Court and by that time, Roger retires. If what they suspect is true (Goodell personally made this all happen) they will push the blame on him, share how it doesn't really matter cause he's already retired, the league has progressed and moved on, etc. They will pay a fine and or settlement, cut a check and move on. Apparently they entire league just surpassed 25 billion dollars in total sales (merch, tickets, stadium parking, etc) so even 500 million won't truly hurt. That is if they don't just say 'blank check' and get Gruden to go away before getting to that point. Really great research but I feel like ESPN is just the propaganda wing of the major league sports.

I don't think anyone is happy about what happened to Jon Gruden and he had a contract so should get every penny of what he would have got . He built the team up so they dumped him just to save money not paying him. This is very illegal what they did it's just probably all about money and is illegal.Or at least so it would appear. Even if it doesn't go to trial, and discovery itself is forced by the court prior to the trial even starting, I think Goodell is done (and good riddance, it is very, very overdue). I think that if discovery is forced, and the entire pile of emails is requested by Gruden's lawyers, the emails will be possibly so damaging to NFL team owners, they will force Goodell out, and then offer Gruden a giant pile of cash to stop the court case. The last thing the NFL team owners want is to have their dirty laundry exposed for all to see, and they will do almost anything to prevent it. I can see things like intentional tanking to get better draft choices being the pile of emails, perhaps the owners being paid by the online gambling outfits to vote for allowing online gambling, things like that, as well as the tawdry stuff like which owner spent time with a hooker or was himself gambling on NFL games. First one will result in a divorce, and the second will impact the current situation where players are being suspended for gambling, which may impact the current CBA.

As a lifelong Raiders fan this brings me so much joy. It's been obvious to all of us Raiders fans that the NFL has ALWAYS gone out of its way to unfairly judge, penalize, and make on field decisions based off of the league's hate for Raiders ownership. The league officials and leadership has always judged the Raiders under different rules and a different microscope. We all knew that when the league came out and unfairly released these emails that it was their typical hit job against the Raiders and Gruden. I hope that Jon Gruden takes this as far as he can and does not settle out of court. He and his lawyers should be able to subpoena emails and any other electronic records that strengthen his case that the league acted in a cover up and conflict of interest. I hope this leads to the Raiders suing for negligence and damages to the teams image and reputation. The NFL really dug a hole for themselves in this case and I'm looking forward the the Raiders really taking it to the league in true AL DAVIS and RAIDERS fashion.

What a joke, the Raiders have always been a favorite child. The LA move and back was special treatment, it all happened in 12 years, and no other franchise has moved more times during the Super Bowl era. There have only been 9 moves in the modern era, and three are the Raiders, two are the Rams, with the other 4 being Chargers, Oilers, Colts, and Cardinals. I am always surprised that any of those teams still have loyal fan bases. Despite that, I still think that Snyder did this, mostly as a distraction from his own bad behavior. Just because he is an awful human, doesn't mean that Gruden isn't also.

Furthermore, it was proven that the NFL had a paid off juror in one of the juries. Yes, they have moved multiple times because of the lack of investment from their city's. The NFL is a business something many fans don't understand. Teams need to make money to be able to compete. The Raiders are the most hated franchise by the league. The only reason they've been able to move is because Al didn't take their nonsense. There were thousands of emails. Florio's analysis is spot on. If this gets out of NFL arbitration, they will offer him such an insane amount of money with an NDA attached that he'll have to take it. If we can trust the Web search results on his net worth, Gruden is certainly well-off but he has quite a bit less than he would have if he had finished out his $100M contract. Hopefully Gruden exposes everyone.. they all deserve it. This is all darker than anyone wants to own up too. The NFL didn’t allow Mark back into Los Angeles for very successful reasons, when they knew 2yrs later that they would have no choice but to allow the team move to Vegas they figured it would be the last nail in the coffin for the Davis family. Create drama/side news to trip up Gruden and Davis because the thing was building steam, when they all anticipated it to tank hard.

We can more then likely safely assume that Davis was strong armed in firing Jon, and Gruden knows this. What sucks the most is that it was painfully obvious how much Jon loved that team. As a raiders fan & season ticket holder Davis used the emails to get out of the 100M contract if Gruden had been more successful earlier on he would've been suspended 8-10 games which I though was more appropriate. Welcomed back with open arms, doubt it for a multitude of reasons, he and Mayock whiffed on many 1st rd picks, brought in low character guys and more importantly his offense was far too vanilla, Mike Mcdaniels was the play all along and we let him off the hook.

If Gruden had managed his money halfway intelligently when he was raking it in, he should be set for life. A Web search finds pages estimating his net worth at from $20 million to $30 million, which is lower than I would have expected. So while that is plenty for a normal person to be set for life (by the 3% rule of investing, he should be able to draw almost $1M per year in income from his investments indefinitely), the fact that Gruden didn't finish out his $100M contract suggests to me that he might still be motivated enough by money to take a settlement if the number is right. As Florio says, no matter how rich a person may be, there is always some number that would get them to settle, assuming the other side is willing to pony up.

Anything that gets Goodell out of the league is a positive. Roger Goodell has repeatedly hidden evidence and interferred in criminal investigations (Ray Rice, Leonard Little, Henry Ruggs, Dan Snyder). He's getting a personal cut from every bet placed on DraftKings, but has insider influence since he can suspend any player. He supended players during the lockdowns, but turned a blind eye when Rodgers admitted to violating policy... and then rewarded him with an MVP! If the owners are serious about cleaning up their image, they need to get Goodell out of there and cut bait.

I think he will take the money, as you say. However, I also believe that he will demand that Goodell be fired before he takes the cash because of this incident. As long as he has been around the league, he knows enough of the owners and people in their offices that he could talk it over with them to lay out his demands.

Isn't the bigger issue that there are apparently thousands of incriminating letters involving NFL personnel and the NFL isn't just already holding them accountable? Why didn't the NFL just take action because of those emails in and of themselves.

@@herbtapp3031ah you’re right he can’t coach took a 4-12 Raider team the first time around and turned it into a Super Bowl contender in 2 seasons..won a Super Bowl with a Tampa team going backwards(with 21 new players)..and took over yet another team going backwards with half their salary cap tied up in three players(this time the Raiders again)and in his last season the Special Teams coach took the team to the playoffs now team’s a disaster again

@@scottbuono2507 Please he took Tony Dungy's Tampa Bay team to the Superbowl. Look at his record after the Superbowl win. Gruden is 50% coach. The Bucs went down on a steady arc after that Superbowl, that is why he got fired at Tampa and went to ESPN for 10 years.

@@herbtapp3031because the team got old, gruden brought in 21 new players and beat the team HE built in the Super Bowl (gruden bowl) Tampa was going into a rebuild after that Super Bowl. Dungy did the same thing with the colts and kept the same offense. I guess he’s overrated too.

Most of the time, can't stand Mike's approach to analyzing the teams, games, and players. When he's absolutely in his element (given his engineering/legal degrees) dissecting the damage and fall out from the most recent RoGoody snafu, holy christ... Florio is dynamic, perceptive, and straight on in his entire take off what could happen to all parties involved in this current morass and convoluted abyss. For him to take the article from ESPN's Van Natta, Jr. and Wickersham, which by the way is a very long read, nut and bolt the entirety of the article for everyone to follow and somewhat construct a paint by numbers conclusion is remarkable. His ending statement is, in my opinion only, the single greatest threat to the NFL and RoGoody... that state or Federal prosecutors could very well build a case for Jon Gruden that centers on the "extortion" element of how the League fired Jon, and gel that to RICO Statutes and organized crime laws beyond that as well. I hope Jon doesn't cave to a settlement, but then again, money always talks and usually wins in the end. That'd be too bad in this scenario. I'd like to see Jon Gruden bring down the NFL Office and RoGoody and drag their bodies through the streets.

The dynamic he described happens all the time, i.e. you should do X or Y will happen... I'm with you - I'd love to see that Ahole Goodell go down. They F'd with the wrong guy in Gruden...

Gruden is already rich, I think he'd rather coach than take a settlement . He could take partial settlement and sign a non disclosure in order to coach again but the league will never agree to that because it will get leaked. He'll end up taking the $$ I guess but ultimately he wants to coach. It's in his blood...

Neither the league or Dan Snyder would physically press the send button themselves. Both would use intermediaries, such as a law office, but my guess is Dan Snyder is the one who “physically leaked” them to the intermediate but the league knew he was going to do it, and were absolutely on board with him doing it.
