This book is what I've been saying they need to do with Jon for YEARS!!! Boy has so much trauma that needs unpacked. Hope the San Francisco conversation is hinting towards a future book and not just quietly shuffling them off. I also feel like Nia isn't dead and is gonna show up once Waller is dealt with and her family is safe.

Normally the heroes would have Sanctuary from Heroes in Crisis to address this kind of trauma. But alas, it was tainted by said event and Tom king, so no, there are NO therapists to help Jon with his trauma at the moment

It sounds like they’re doing with Jon what they did with Connor when he lived in Hawaii. It could be great for Jon, he could go to school, have friends and a job and his own rouges gallery.

Just spitballing here, but this "Dreamer" is mental construct of Jon's mind, not the real Dreamer. And one that represents the deepest depths of his subconsciousness. They dug deep into repressed traumatic memories and emotions, Jon may not have been fully aware of any amorous feelings for Dreamer. Often with a character being put into danger or dying, the protagonist then suddenly realize how deeply they feel for that character. It's a pretty common trope in all media. Maybe the creative team did do a good job of establishing Dreamer as a figment of Jon's imagination or you misunderstood. Or maybe it wasn't meant to be read as amorous and just affectionate emotional expression of a lost friend. (Kind of how so many people misread the relationship between Captain America and Black Widow after CA:Winter Soldier.)

Dreamer's people do have the ability to attache their soul to the person who she loves and loves her. Basically their soul mate or destined partner as her kind puts it. In the L.O.S. Nia's descendant, the future Dreamer did this with Brainiac 5 by constantly appearing in his dreams with him realizing that it's really her soul and just not his grief over losing her, but her body was destroyed so he made a clone body to attache her soul too. So if Jon has constant dreams of Nia then that maybe the case.

No, Joel. There was never any hint before that Jon and Dreamer were romantically interested in each other. They were just friends and colleagues. Whatever is going on with Jon won’t be permanent because he’s going to be in an issue of nightwing in November and utilizing his blue electric powers from the look of it.

Calling it now, they'll pull up some Sandman lore and have Dreamer come back with a huge powerup. If the current Neil Gaiman controversy continues as is it'll will make it all the more appealing to them, Sandman was always his baby, by moving it to a new creative team they can tap into what he built but also free up the IP from such a close connection to him while tying it back to the DCU heroes.

Very mixed bag. I honestly think Dreamer and Jon might be a cute couple in the future, but this is not the way to set up something like that. Very weird.

DC planted two seeds. 1) There may be hidden feelings between Jon and Nia. 2) Jon and Jay might be headed towards a break up. Both may happen. Nia's people has come back from the dead before. The L.O.S. Dreamer kept herself attached to the world of the living by connecting her soul to her soul mate Brainiac 5, appearing in his dreams. It seems like Nia did that with Jon. So if Jon has continues dreams of Nia then that's the sign her soul is attached to him and he may have a purpose to play in her resurrection. That would totally piss off Jay.

Not gonna lie, totally thought it was going to turn out that the dreamer that was helping Jon was actually the braniac queen pretending to be dreamer so she can distract/sabotage Jon's attempts to get rid of her

To be honest, I do think that Jonathan and Nia Nal would make a good romantic couple. I just hope that the relationship between Jay and Jon ends and that Nia and Jon are together.

This one shot sucks and just proves my point I was right and dc should just stop and focusing on stupid jay nakamura and give us back Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy back to his little 10 year old self but that’s just my opinion. Now as for dreamer I don’t care about this romance 🥰 but if it means jay nakamura could finally go away I will bite that bullet and take it.
