Phil Hartman was my favorite cast member from SNL from the late 80s / early-to-mid 90s period, along with Jan Hooks - just a once-in-a-generation talent. In recent times, Cecily Strong has a similar sensibility and range, though she just moved on from SNL to greener pastures after a lengthy tenure.

Phil Hartman was a truly gifted performer. He was also a hugely talented graphic designer. His album covers for America, Poco, and Steely Dan, among others, are absolutely iconic. If you are unfamiliar, it is worth a bit of research, it's pretty amazing. To think that he had such a complete career in that discipline before he became an SNL cast member makes both more impressive. RIP

This is the first time I've seen/heard Jon Lovitz when he's not in-character (I've seen DVD commentaries, interviews, podcasts, and he's always been "on" in all of them, except for this).
