@Eddie R agreed lol it IS a very nice touching thing to say but idk what makes it so special haha special would be if I said "he was literally the best person ever and life is meaningless with him gone" or something
Hi, I'm Troy McClure. You might remember me from such public service videos as "Designated Drivers: The Lifesaving Nerds" and "Phony Tornado Alarms Reduce Readiness."
there is a clip from JRE with Dave Foley, where Joe talks about being at a party with her, and she was just so demeaning to Phil. And Andy Dick is allegedly the one who sent her back down the cocaine path that led to Phil's eventually death. He was just cosmically screwed, and a huge, huge loss.
Lisa Simpson: “Mr. Huts, why are you burning all of your personal papers?” Lionel Hutz: “As of now Lionel Hutz no longer exists. Say hello tl Miguel Sanchez!”
He was supposed to be the voice of Capt Zap Branagin on Futurama, the part was written with him in mind. I love that show but he would have been so much better than some guy basically doing a Phil Hartman impression.
I remember it seeming like that was the final nail. Everything changed on The Simpsons after Phil Died. It was a death that hit home when I was a kid. He was very loved.
If you weren’t alive when Phil Hartman died, it was like Mr. Rogers had been murdered by his own wife. It still shocks me to this day and I’m just a fan. Can’t imagine how his family and friends feel...
I just loved Phil Hartman. He was just a unique funny talented and endearing man. What a huge loss for us all. Such a tragic story and way to end the life of someone that really had an impact on so many people. I would have never known Joe was close to him. Sad.
I loved Phil as the Caveman Lawyer- definitely my favorite! It's terrible that his worst enemy was sleeping in his bed :( It broke my heart when this happened.
I was in the Czech Republic when Phil died and never heard about it. When I returned to the States and didn't see any sign of him on TV or anywhere and when I found out, I was devastated. He was a great graphic artist. Did the album cover for Steely Dan's Aja, America's Greatest Hits. Some Poco album covers, too. I wish I met him.
Speaking of Stephen Root and the Cohen brothers.....don't forget that he was the blind radio station owner in "O Brother Where Art Thou". He was brilliant. :)
I was just a toddler, but I remember playing a game called "Blasto". Phil voiced Blasto. I remember giggling and playing it over and over for purely his voice over. Then watched shows like Ren and Stimpy, never knowing he died like a month before Blasto came out
It was such a tragic loss, he was an incredibly talented and sweet guy. Look up videos of Jon Lovitz talking about him, he can't stop himself from choking up. Everyone on SNL loved him, there's a video of the late 80s cast all holding each other as they present a video tribute to him at SNL's 25th anniversary in 1999. It's very moving... We've lost so many comedy legends now, it's really sad but that's life I guess.
I remember seeing small soldiers as a kid and my dad laughing everytime it would just show Phil's face lol....... His scene in the Ax Murderer movie with Mike Myers had me rolling when I first saw it. Lol Hartman wa just funny PERIOD.
didn't sound like they were assassins, more like some "muscle" meant to scare the guy. I mean, how nice are you gonna be to someone who is literally trying to blackmail you?
Today marks 25 years since one of the most unfair and tragic deaths of a celebrity ever. I had never taken a death of a celebrity that hard until Phil Hartman was taken from us. Such a senseless and confusing death of a man who had so much to give the world. You are not forgotten Phil. 25 years later we miss you.
I sometimes forget Joe knew Phil Hartman. Man that must have been so cool. That was like one my favorite comedians during his time here. Mind blown when I realized Phil was on peewees playhouse,so was Lawrence fishburne. Aaaahaha ADD
Phil Hartman was a delight and funny in everything I ever saw him in - SNL, Newsradio, and the couple of '3rd Rock from the Sun' episodes he was in. RIP.
I remember an E! Documentary mention that in one of the SNL’s openings with Phil Hartman’s intro, his wife was actually in the shot. And she tried to turn her face around to the camera but the crew wont let her. So it just shows the back of her head...as it should be! You ain’t part of the cast
House guest with Sinbad was my shit! Love some Phil Hartman. He was supposed to be the voice of Zapp Brannigan before he got killed. Philip J fry was named in honor of Phil Hartman on Futurama. The more you know...
0:55-1:07 is way up there on the list of "joe roganiest transitions" Like if you look past the giant cloud of smoke to see the gears turning inside his head..."he was the nicest guy...he used to like to get high and go to strip clubs"
add to it ... describing Phil as being fake nice to blackmailer until the thugs arrived to threaten roughing the blackmailer up. Not saying the blackmailer didn't deserve it but kind of weird to call someone the nicest guy and then your first story is him sounding like a mafia boss.
Phil Hartman was my all time favorite SNL cast member. I know that's a big statement considering how many great comedians that show produced. He was versatile, funny and made everyone around him better. Loved him.
I used to watch news radio as a kid. Phil Hartman makes that show work so well. He's like Dennis from Always Sunny... in terms of vanity that turns into comedy.
I wished I could've met him too. And yeah, my soul still hurts to think Phil is no longer around. How much did I admire Phil - The Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Vegas was selling the prop box of "Colon Blow" ad parody Phil held on a SNL bit, and I considered buying it. Still kinda regret I didn't. Just to have something that Phil had touched seems like a good omen to have. And that dead pan response he had in the bit "...Colon Blow?", will forever crack me up!
You are so cool..we were talking about you at the Bank the other day....the young teller dude and me were telling everyone about you Phil Hartman could do so many roles RIP
