I’m honestly worried about this story being finished. Not just becuz GRRM is taking so long. But he is planning on finishing everything up in the next 2 books. That’s a whole lot of story plots to finish. Dany finishing whatever she is doing in Essos, coming to Westeros, trying to take the throne, meeting Jon, dealing with the Others. Jon’s story. Bran, Arya, sansa. Shit, we have the Dorne story line now, Jon Con and Ageon, the Iron born, Stannis the Mannis, Lady Stoneheart. We’ve only really seen the white walkers twice. This story just keeps getting bigger. How the hell is GRRM going to wrap this all up in the next 2 books?
I have had this same thought! It is really worrying and I feel like he needs 3 books to fully conclude all the storylines well and not feel rushed. A similar problem to what the show had it needed maybe 2 more seasons, but the writers got burnt out. I feel like maybe George might be burnt out and not even know how to conclude the series in two books
Aside from the facts that Winds of Winter will be the biggest tome in the series so far, that is a good question. We'll see. Maybe winds will wind up being split into 2 books.
I think Jon's lineage is important for the Others, remember Rhaegar was obsessed with that prince that was promised prophecy because he may have had visions that the others were coming and Daenerys saw Rhaegar in the House of the Undying and he said that the dragon has three heads and that there must be one more so I think thats why he got with lyanna and had a kid because its the union of ice and fire. Jon is the central character because he's both ice and fire which is why he has to push back the Others and Daenerys because they are too elements that make life hard to live in. I don't think Jon and Daenerys need to be pit against each other for the iron throne because a marriage would've solved that
So I agree with a lot of what you said but I dont know how Jon will feel learning Dany is his Aunt. Just the way Jon is as a character I think this will be difficult for him to have a continued relationship with Dany. Also, I do think Jon will face off against the others. I dont believe a lot of the prophecy bc George doesnt seem like the writer to have one hero that just defeats the bad guys and if Jon does he is going to have to give something up or fundamentally change as a character bc that is how George writes characters like that
@@TheGreaseGoblins yeah I get what you mean about the prophecy thing, I don't think the others will be defeated in the exact same way that azor ahai did it, that prophecy could be a metaphor. But in the books I don't think jon will be too freaked because Starks have wed uncle to niece and lyanna's parents were cousins so she's a product of incest. Plus he should just suck it up because he enjoyed bedding her lol.
You know, Dany can't have any offspring, so even if she wins the throne, it doesn't matter who she marries, they won't be able to produce an heir. What do they do about that?
It’s still very hard to tell how the story will end because it’s not clear what the others want. They’re clearly intelligent, so something must drive the southwards… I doubt it’s only for the creation of more wights ^^ As for Jon, i could see him becoming something like coldhands as well tbh. He could venture deep north that way, just like the last hero from the tales of Old Nan
I think they had that plot for Jon to go beyond the wall to capture a wight because it was dan and Dave's way to keep Cersei around longer, they didn't want Daenerys to burn cersei out the red keep in season 7 so they wrote her to fail and they also didn't want anything to do with the white walkers story line, they treated like an inconvenience to them.
Yup exactly I think they also used that plot for the white walkers to have a way to bring down the wall and to nerf Dany bc they couldn’t think of a way to get the white walkers across the wall
Ultimately, I think Jon & Dany are destined (for lack of a better word) to make huge sacrifices, most likely including (but not limited to) their lives. I definitely don't see any happy endings for either And it's funny you bring up Gandalf, because George is on record as saying, it would've been better & more impactful if he had stayed dead
Yup agreed I think it would have been better too, and I remember him saying that! Honestly I dont remember what I even talked about specifically in this video this was one of my first asoiaf videos and my opinions have changed a lot from them! I agree though sacrifices will be made I personally think we will see them trying to make a peace instead of having one big battle to decide their fate

Not that there won't be tons of battles & bloodsh, of course And I know what you mean, my ideas on the story are constantly evolving, as well. But I love the discussion and enjoy your videos, so thank you for making them : )
If the future , if Jon Snow happens he will be the de-facto "King North of the Wall", the wildlings like him, he has royal training (settling family and neighbor disputes, along with tactical battle training). So even if he rails against being a royal, the people will depend on him, to be their ruler (king). The best part is that he and Sansa will rule over half of Westeros, independent of the south. George R.R. Martin will probably have to need someone else as a ghost writer to finish his works like Robert Jordan did...the stories are still loved and unfinished.

I’ve always liked the idea that lightbringer is a baby of Jon and Danny and the stabbing in the heart part is taking the baby and giving it to the others as part of the pact for peace with the others. I could see that mixed with sharing the throne with Jon and everyone loving him but hating her and all her friends dying trying to take the throne finally sending Danny over the edge crazy wise.
Jon risked it all to try to save Arya. I doubt he would ever sacrifice a child of his own. He doesn’t compromise. Dany did plenty of self sacrifice in Meereen.
My predections: Jon wargs to Ghost, keeping his couciousness. (Different for Catelyn, Baric...) Melissandra do something to bring Jon to Jon's body. Hang traitors bla bla bla He marches to winterfell Someone remember that Rob named him his heir, and Jon Becomes King in the North. In Paralel with this Daenerys burns Essos, fAegon take the throne with Dorne I think Book Six will finish with Long Night Arriving The North, and winter arriving the 7 kingdoms We will Probably Know about the Others more, so some Battles will happen. Daenaerys will Arrive Dragon Stone and The Others will become a Threat. Book ends
i think the last bit in the show is the recolonization of the North by humans - the toughest humans, because they are the only ones who really can take the climate, the low tech level, and they know and love the place.
I also like the idea of Jon being exiled north of the wall but i dont think it will be as simple as it was in the show. I think he'll end up being a Coldhands type character who physically cant pass back through the wall due to magic.
I'm glad you brought up the stupidity of the night's watch still being a thing after they've made peace with the wildings and defeated the night king. There's literally nothing else to defend beyond the wall lol. Maybe some renegade brigands. Some disgruntled wildlings that decided to move back, and then come back again to raid settlements lol. I guess they could still enforce law in the north, but they're a long ass ways away from everything up there.
Actually with Ghost acting like soul jar -He won't lose himself. The other people especially Stone heart was dead for a while. So Jon will just be Jon.
The thing that is good about the fact that the later seasons of GoT being terrible is that it sort of opens the door for someone to come remake the winds of winter as a show assuming GRRM finishes the books.
I dont think Jon died in the books. He wasnt even the last chapter. He was stabbed yes but not 15 time like in the show. Also read the last line again. He never felt the last one only the cold. How can he feel if he is dead, Also how did he know.I have two thoughts on that. He was pulled into ghost to save his mind while his body heals by Bran or he warged him self. Or go back to the chapter before Jon is betrayed. All the meetings he had how long it took for him to come out and the way he remembers what the Red Woman told him about glamour. Jon never used a horn but he reaches for one when he is being stabbed. The Order of the green hand has a great video on it. I personal believe Jon warged onto Ghost and Val will protect his body with mel while she vudo her magic to heal his body before he wargs back into it. jon will not be the same because the wild of Ghost will be a bigger part of him.
It's hard as hell to try to guess what will happen to Jon. He'll be resurrected... but then... I don't know. I think he'll be more like a beast, somewhere in between Lady Stonheart and himself, not as cruel as her, but neither as human as the previous himself, and nothing as meh as the show. And probably he'll never be king in the north. He'll be obsessed with the Others or something like that, and he won't care about thrones or castles, or politics.
Imagine if in an attempt to kill Ramsay in the "astral plane" he ends up skinchanging him permanently, and is now forever stuck with Ramsay's reputation. lol
some theory's are sound, but im a firm believer if you set up something you need a payoff. if not and your doing what seems a good story feels more like watching television
I think that Dany will be busy fighting F/Aegon and that Jon will come back from death with no real ability to relate to somebody in a love relationship and maybe not even an ability to have sex or certainly not able to have children.
Well he was commander of the watch and the night’s watch or some of them believed that Jon was betraying the watch and or forsaking his vows bc he said he was gonna go south to help take back winterfell bc of the pink letter. In turn breaking his vows.
For Jon to be resurrected it had to be him that was stabbed. If Jon was going two ways maybe it was Gerald Hightower that was stabbed when he was glamoured. Same truck Mel used to “burn mance” who was actually rattle shirt. Meanwhile Arthur Dayne is now pretending to be Rattle Shirt when he duels Jon. The more I read the wall and read carefully Mance/Tormund/Jon the more I think this is accurate.
So my problem with this is we get the pov chapter of Jon and at no point does Jon act differently then his normal self. Also, if it was hightower why would he say Ghost at the end or why would he act the way he does. Plus if George was going to do this I dont think he would have given jon this pov chapter he would have added someone else
@@TheGreaseGoblins There is no doubt more than meets the eye and George isn't about to drop the curtain on all the fog that he has in place of so many characters and plots with two more books to come. Some of the POV Jon descriptions are pretty vague and "unlike". I don't think that George writes many glaring mistakes or errors, its all with intent. Nor does George make everything obvious for us and spell it out and ruin the surprise either. Like Jon finding Ghost and the pups at the beginning , Jon "hearing" things that not another single experienced party member hears, right in the first chapter we get Jon and a magical connection but George doesn't say it and write it. Nor does George explain a rule set as to how glamour and such works, there is no rule book, does it hurt Jon because they are connected? who knows. Some of the men even notice that the glamour isnt perfect, it could be a previously undisclosed reason that they stabbed him.
I feel like you put a LOT of weight on the Show. Especially the later seasons. The show has nearly nothing to do with the books in the final 3-4 seasons.
Well why don't you like Dany in books... she is a child doing much more than any child of her age can or should do and also fantasizing about hansome man... she is an adolescent, I do not see how being interested in men at her age is wrong... sh is seeking some comfort and happiness in Dario which is absent from rest of her life it makes alot of sense she is using her fantasy of Dario as coping mechanism against how she's being trapped in the mereen politics
For me I was just never interested in Dany much compared to other story lines her story always felt so far away from the main story, and for me always felt like her chapters were a break from Westros. Which isn't a bad thing at all idk it is just personal preference. I don't hate or think anything is wrong with her. Like I understand why a lot of people like her. Also, idk it is normal for her to be thinking about Daario and stuff, but like idk George writes just sexual stuff with her every single chapter like I just get bored of it like I get it George she is lonely or whatever relationship wise. For me it just got boring and/or weird her constantly thinking about that stuff like idk just not my thing.
@@TheGreaseGoblins may be for you but it is very natura and realistic for girls her age... also I do not see anything wrong in having sexual thoughts... its a natural process all humans go through and taboo that is related to talking about it is kind of stupid and makes no sense... her story is thematically very important to thr narrative... she is source of inner strength to many girls who go through abuse in early life (physical/mental/sexual/emotional) and a hope for a better life. Maybe in states it's not that common but patriarchy crushes alot of little girls all around the world and in her we see hope... also sexual liberty is a big issue... it's easy to underestimate these things from the place of privilege though
@@TheGreaseGoblins I personally can never forget the moment when she snapped back at Viserys and said "the next time you raise a hand to me will be the last time you have hands", so many girls want to say this but could not gather the courage... she is the one who has the most resources for fighting others if you really think about it.. she gave birth to dragons... has subconscious access to the ancient magic and has the heart and strength to fight any threat... let be alone the threat to whole humanity
@@TheGreaseGoblins making her mad in the end is the worst thing dnd did with the show coz this is what happnes to women who do not submit their powers....tbh even if Jon is Rhaegar's legitimate son which is unlikely coz his marrige was Elia was still on and polygamy is not allowed in faith of seven or old gods.... he is still not the heir coz Robert took the westros through conquest which means Stannis is the lawfully the king as Joffery, Tommy and Marcella are Jamei's. Daenerys is the one who has the strength to conquer the westros again if Targeryens are to be established again as royal family coz Jon has neither a legal claim or resources... calling him the heir is weird to me as the Targeryen dynasty has fallen and its the Baratheon dynasty that is in power... is Jon a Baratheon now? How is he the heir I ask
@@visenyatargeryen2704 So I get what you are saying and again I am not hating on the character, and I understand why a lot of people like her. My favorite character is Stannis and not everyone likes him either. It is fine fir us to value different stories differently. I do not relate to Dany as much as others like u stated. Again it is normal to have sexual thoughts for Dany like I said. I just don't enjoy hearing about it. Also, Jon would be the heir for people who believe the Baratheon's stole the Crown, and the Targaryeons should be in power it is the same logic Viserys and Dany use. As well as Varys for trying to get all these characters on the throne. Personally I love Stannis and would love to see him on he throne, but it does not look likely at this point. Also, when I called Jon the heir I meant if everything goes how the show went. Like the annulment of the marriage and Jon being the R+L=J. Which may or may not be true there are a lot of theories
What is your justification for the assumption that "Jon won't be a little lapdog"? Arguably Stoneheart and Berric come back from the dead much more simple minded..
Big difference between Jon and Beric/Stoneheart is Jon is a Warg. B&S are resurrected and brought back. Jon’s essence will be transferred in to Ghost and then brought back. The Varamyr Sixskins prologue chapter explains how it works.
