I loved the Daily Show growing up. This takes me back to a simpler time.

Thank you Mr. Stewart (and your team of writers) for formulating things in such clear language. * Please, if you comment, let's be civilized, even if I'm completely wrong, which I'm willing to accept, I would like to amplify what he's stating here, not get into a shouting contest. 9:28 " The status quo cycle of provocation and retribution is predicated on some idea that one of these groups is going to go away. And they are not. If we want a safe and free Israel, and a safe and free Palestine, we have to recognize that reality. And I know that there is a twisted and much contested history in the region that has brought us to this point. But we are at THIS point. And anything we do from here has to look forward... " As an Israeli expat born in the 70s, I can whole-heartedly say, this has been the position I've been drawn to the most my entire life, still to this day. Up until the 90s, this was even a direction where the internal (and world) politics were heading, and then everything changed (Rabin's assassination is a clear pivot point, but it's a symptom, a catalyst - not the cause) 11:40 " Starting now, no preconditions, no earned trust, no partners for peace, Israel stops bombing, Hamas releases the hostages, the Arab countries who claim Palestine is their top priority come in and form a demilitarized zone between Israel and a free Palestinian state. The Saudis, Egypt, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, they all form like a NATO arrangement guaranteeing security for both sides. " The real problem with this suggestion, which I LOVE and wish was possible, is that the Arab nations, as clearly stated in the segment, don't care for the Palestinian people. They only care that they are not their problem to solve. (That's the root of the issue for well over 150 years, way before Israel was established - not taking away any blame from Israel here - but the blame is definingly shared here) I still think that the fighting should stop, the hostages sent back, but I know that the road on the Israeli side, will first start by replacing the overly right wing zealot government that is currently at play (look at the 9 months since the election until Oct 7 to understand that), which - unfortunately, in democracy, is by the choice of the people - this means that the people at this point (navigated by the politicians at power) care more about hating the enemy, than fixing the rapture. I just wish, when the time comes, there would be a time where somebody on the Palestinian side would be brave enough and strong enough to do the same on their side.

I'm a black South African, and I always enjoyed the daily show with Trevor Noah, but Jon Stewart got me hooked on the daily show again. This man is organic and gels well with the show. Jon Stewart is really just naturally funny.

I went to Southern Illinois University. We had quite a few Israeli and Palestinian students. They got along just fine. It is the politicians and religious nuts that keep this going.
