I think that in the intro to this aria, he looks and sounds vicious like a wolf. And i think it fits the role perfectly. Just excellent.

Wolverine is a bit different... OK, no jokes. Mr Kaufmann's voice is UNIQUE! One of the best tenors ever.

I heard him sing this live a few weeks ago at Royal Festival Hall and it felt like everyone in the hall was holding their breath, just caught up in moment. To me as someone who is just learning the world of opera he has a voice that can be so pure in the lieder and yet so powerful in this, like an amazing bottle of red wine, so many different flavour notes, such richness all combining to make a smooth pure moment of enjoyment to take time and savour.

Amo esta aria!!! Amaba solo como la interpretaba Domingo y Pavarotti, pero al escuchar a Jonas Kaufmann, me he enamorado de su fuerza, su pasión y sobre todo bellisima voz!!!

He seems to have a brighter voice here, then in other recordings.

My first exposure to Jonas was his role as Sigmund in the 2011 Met production of the Ring Cycle. I loved him in that production and this aria just deepens that for me.

One more thing! If I stood anywhere near him, I would not be able to resist running my fingers through his adorable unruly mop!

@JussidelMonaco I sang with Tucker and taught Kaufmann and have and had a personal relationship with both. Kaufmann is the best singer in the world today.

Find me a contemporary male singer that sounds anything close to as pleasant to listen to as a great classical singer - it's nothing but croaking and squeezing. This is pure splendour
