Thank you so much for posting this. This has been the most intriguing part of The Witness for me ever since the first website for the game was published 7 years or whatever before it was released which included quotes from Lao Tzu and Albert Einstein. It's the first time I hear Jonathan Blow elaborate on the subject.
As always great video, thank you for posting it!! P.S. Someone knows what Blow thinks about Death Stranding? I would love to know what is his opinion as an excellent game designer
No it isn't. Truth is not "believed in", truth is demonstrated. You are thinking of faith. When you have faith in something it means you believe in something (without evidence). If you have evidence, you could demonstrate that it is true. You wouldn't say "believe me, magnetism exists". You demonstrate it's existence by providing it.
@@htpkey Not necessarily. Truth isn't relative, and thus doesn't change on how it is treated or observed. What you're describing is the dichotomy of faith and knowing. "Trust me, these two pieces of metal will cling together." Is that true? Yes. Do I know why? No. Then one might come along and explain why my faith in that principle is valid. My faith in the truth is rewarded by the affirmation of knowing why it's true.
@@JackChatelle Truth can and is to relative to different models and certain aspects of the world, for example in what you have in that theater clip conveyed as human emotion. This is also true to math in certain degrees.
I hate when in the flow of natural conversation my excited thoughts and questions want to contribute to the conversation, but oops they were talking weren't they... It's tough living a life hating something that often can't be helped.
