Nuclear is to deter nuclear. Nothing more. Won't deter conventional (see yom Kippur in '73) or sub conventional (Oct 7 is the largest). Conventional can deter like and helps with sub conventional. It's not perfect though but way more useful than nuclear

If I am not misreading, the Torah says exactly how to fix it, an existential threat, by repentance. Relying on arms and putting confidencr in man or allies is the recipe to disaster. Until then, disaster!

The English translation of what the Torah says is wrong. The word in Torah is תשובה , pronounced teshuva. This word doesn't mean 'repentence' exactly. It actually means something much bigger. Teshuva means return, response. To do teshuva, means to go back and read what Hashem asked us to do, to Listen to Him. He asked us to conquer the Land and settle it. This means exactly how it sounds... to clear out those who are against Torah, against Hashem's Vision.
"Repentence" by itself is a xtian misunderstanding... Yes, each person needs to examine him/herself for inappropriate deeds according to Torah and to fix it and change the behavior. But there is much more implied by this word.
