I had the rare honor of meeting the man up in Vegas when I was 13, and not only did he sign a autograph, he took some time to talk to me and made a special moment into a moment that still brings a smile to my face. there will never be another like him, may he be in a special place befitting a man of his class.
You know, I've thought a lot about Jonathan Winters and one thing that always endeared him to me is his various characters actually ring completely true to the American scene. I always thought so many of his characters sound like people you would hear on local radio stations if you were driving across the midwest. One reason it's so funny is it's so true. And I can't think of a single other comedian for which that could be said. It's truly genius.
Yes when you see and hear guys like Jonathan Winters and Dean Martin, you are back in the good old days when there were good comedians and actors. Nowadays show people are really bad in comparison, thats for sure.
