Beautiful. Tears of gratitude. Thank you Joni for trusting yourself and the people around you to give us this gift. Brandi, you were the right person to facilitate this gorgeous performance. Your love, respect and compassion are all evident. This feels monumental to me in these troubled times and gives me hope. Love you Joni.
Joni was born in '43. I was born in '45. Therein is the blessing to have known this amazing woman's music my entire life. To watch her in these videos is to be plunged back in time, reveling in the timeless music of my youth.
What a soulful, knockdown drag out, mic drop, get outta here, whatutakinbout, crazy good, heart wrenching, powerful and damn good performance. I am crying....watching....crying...and watching it again! Thank you Joni and Brandi--LOVE YOU so much!
Joni…Joni…Joni….I have been with you since 1969…. The first time…Listening to you in concert with Arlo Guthrie one Saturday summer night in July on PBS..just days after the moon landing… and I was exhilarated…. And continue to be so…. Sadness and gladness meld into one …heartache….brain freeze… epiphany…you are the Queen… thank you…thank you…thank you
This is exactly what the entire world needs, Joni and her social prescription, beautiful stuff, she shows us that kindness is still the only feeling which truly matters
Fabulous! I'm writing with tears in my eyes and tugs in my heart,...Joni has always been and will always be my number one singer song writer of all time. From Both Sides Now is my most favorite song ever. So good to hear her sing again.
Me too, I thought just one more time. I cant believe my wish came true. There is not another poet or voice like hers. She still gives me shivers. Thank you Joni!
Love you Joni. Digging this (through the tears) with gratitude and in honor of my beloved late friend Ronald who loved Joni so much, sporting long blond hair under a beret during the late '70s. Rather than regretting the toll of the years, I see this as a testament to the survial and victory of a very strong, wise spirit and the beauty of her music. Endless thanks to Brandi Carlile for making this happend.
Wonderful to see this. I remember being in art school at Calgary Alberta Canada in the 1st year of 4, and Joni Anderson was in the same class al be it in another class room. But we all heard of her performances at parties and coffee clubs in town. I believe she went on topaint as well. We alllove her music.
I was in love with Joni and her music as a teen fledgling guitar player jamming to Wild Things Run Fast the first record I bought of hers. Then I bought Hejira and swooned, then Blue and I was mesmerized. Now I am 55 years old and a professional guitar player and still totally smitten….
A heartfelt thanks to you Joni. You and your beautiful lyrics. You have traveled in my ear and heart throughout my life . My love for you is boundless!! Thank you Brandi! For bringing our greatest voice and lyricist back to us!! Gratitude and blessings to all of you!🙏💗✨🎶
Nice to see her get the royal treatment, despite the toll the years have taken. One of our great female singer-songwriters. Best years of my life were lived to the beat of her music--beautifully melodic songs, clever, thoughtful and insightful lyrics, one of the indespensible songtracks of my youth and maybe even more relevant today.
Ty for this...Sweet Joanie still has the pipes...sooo sweet to hear her once again...my pops had dementia very bad but still remembered all the songs he used to sing when he was a barbershop singer...keep it up dear girl
Love love love Joani ❤️ .She is still rockin' and I will follow her to the end and beyond. Thank you for posting this and making my 59th birthday so special 💗 💖 💓 💕 ❤️
Joni was the soundtrack to my life in the seventies. Sleeping under the stars on Greek islands.going parties down dirt roads in spain Amsterdam and Rome Go
So stunning. There were times when she would miss a note, when Brandi had to remind her that there was still another verse, but I'm 65. I'm 13 years Joni's junior and I can't sing like I used to. I can't get to a fraction of what she gotten back since her brain aneurysm.
OMG, How could I forget about this? 30 years ago I was a part of this. Does anyone remember the South of France? That's where we would end up. George Wein? I forget who ran the event. I did lighting at Carnegie Hall and I don't remember much else.
Thank you 'themwboudin' for capturing a great deal of the I tro to this amazing and historic performance! Appreciately, long time Joni Mitchell avid listener from 🇨🇦 🍁!
Joni's voice has lost much of its range over the years (not helped by heavy smoking) but it still packs an emotive punch. I was both shocked and moved to hear how great she sounded, solo. I'd love to see Joni do a farewell tour before she fully retires! Thanks for sharing this video.
