Joni is so unique, her music comes from another planet and has no other reference on earth.

I love her ever-so-seasick-subtle vibrato. It's disturbing and beautiful at the same time.

Capolavoro assoluto. Testo, musica, esecuzione. Lunga vita alla geniale Joni in questo suo 80° compleanno.

Now in my seventieth year, I look back when I first heard this masterpiece in 1971, and it is just as evocative and powerful today as it was back then - perhaps even more so. It is astounding. To that certain group of us coming of age back then, Joni Mitchell’s music was a necessary ingredient of our lives. How lucky we were.

Her songs are art. Which makes sense because she said she is a painter first. I didn't experience so much romance but I relate in her lyrics. She look like a goddess here. Joni will be my longest obsession

I could not have put this better! I’m so grateful to have discovered her music when a lil long in the tooth. I wouldn’t have given this a chance in my ignorant 20’s. Longest obsession, I Love that

That whole album reminds me of a girl I lived with years ago - we played that album heaps.

My mom introduced me to Joni's music. There was a version of Twisted Joni did that she'd sing for my sibling and I as kids. It's kinda "our" family song. Listening to some older interviews from Joni and how she really had to be vulnerable for this album is both so humbling and inspiring. I feel the same way when I sing in front of people. It can be really difficult.

How stunning to watch this consummate artist , mesmerizing the audience, she becomes the song, and floats above it and them- like an angel!

Blue songs are like tattoos You know I've been to sea before Crown and anchor me Or let me sail away Hey Blue, here is a song for you Ink on a pin Underneath the skin An empty space to fill in Well there're so many sinking now You've got to keep thinking You can make it thru these waves Acid, booze, and ass Needles, guns, and grass Lots of laughs lots of laughs Everybody's saying that hell's the hippest way to go Well I don't think so But I'm gonna take a look around it though Blue I love you Blue here is a shell for you Inside you'll hear a sigh A foggy lullaby There is your song from me

@@Michael69 yup. MJK says Joni Mitchell songs changed his life. I’m trying to see why…
@Michael69

@@jarrodderr I understand. It took me quite a few years to get into Joni's music but I'm glad I eventually did. She has an incredible voice with a very well controlled vibrato and a great lung capacity which is quite rare. Her lyricism is right up there with the greats like Dylan and Cohen. She is also a masterful musician. She doesn't just play chords which she thinks suit but chooses ones which she is aware portray certain emotions; she can create a song and make you feel exactly what is intended throughout her vast knowledge of how a well-structured song creates a journey for the listener to go on. She is revered amongst the best artists of all time, too. For example, last year a tape was uncovered of her from a live recording in the late '60s. It belonged to Jimi Hendrix. He caught a show of hers, set up his recording equipment on the stage and kept notes in his diary about the show and about meeting her. His words were more than kind. As with any artist, Joni isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea but there's a reason her music has survived as long as it has and still draws in fans from every coming generation.
