Watching DC sing Guinevere... the verse about Chrsitne Hinton... is heartbreaking. He changed a lyric to be 'anchored for such a short day.' Then Traction in the Rain. Nash said he was never the same.

The story she tells at about 6 mins in is exactly what happened at the Atlantic City Pop Festival, Aug. 1-3, 1969 - two weeks before Woodstock. She played early on the first day, Friday, and the lightly militant Philly crowd was ready to Rock - not hear about clouds and seagulls. The crowd was less hostile than plain indifferent. It was a sad coda on the opening day - I loved her, I think everyone did - it was just a matter of mis-timing and inflexibility. Hippies could be as malignantly stubborn and ungracious as toddlers when they couldn't get what they wanted. I often wonder how she felt that day, stepping offstage after just a few songs, to light and scattered applause. I think about it when I hear her perform her masterpiece Woodstock - solo on piano - with it's invocation of First American tonalities - the defiance in her voice - and the coda to it, sung as just "Ooooooo-oooo's" - so hauntingly - like the death songs of tribal warriors.

Chabón, this is from 1975. And from Argentina. They didn't have the state-of-the-art cinematic technology that first world countries did. Also, this is only the DVD version. Therefore, this is as good as it gets for now (when I uploaded this, there was no other DVD rip on RU-vid.) BUT, I will say that the film is REMASTERED at last, and going to be shown at Cine York, 29 de Junio, a las 18:30 😍

Dedicated musicians, writers especially resent typecasting, Dylan being a classic example, Joni likewise. Anything to constrain their creativity is hell. They need room, patience, understanding, same as most but much more, a different breed.

These movies always have the oldest and least looking hippies of all time. The best and most realistic hippy movie is Rainbow Bridge with Hendrix. But it’s not really a Hollywood movie more of a doc but it’s awesome.
@Michael69
@Michael69 3 месяца назад
There are a few good ones out there. My go-to will always be the Woodstock documentary ❤ Psych-Out, to me, isn't so much a representation of the hippies as it is a sign of the times. We get to see several locations, outfits, vehicles, and art overall which was unique to that time and place. Watching this film sends me right back there, and it's a happy place to be :)

Her imagination lyrically is off the planet. But she is message vocalist, an activist. I have always liked her most musically. Her expressive voice, her vocal phrasing, her weird and wonderful guitar chords.She, out all pop artists, has been full of diversity- a lot of people love her folk, but then her jazz rock, r&b , then her pure jazz. She then recorded folk rock pop in the 80’s such as the brilliant compilation album Chalk in The Rain Storm , then back to wonderfully done Night Ride Home and the Grammy Award winner Turbulent Indigo which had the beautiful torching ballad Sire of Sorrow and a host of other appealing tunes. But you really have to like Both Sides Now with her renditions of past Ballad tunes dating back prior to WW2. Backed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra many of its instrumentalists were openly in tears so touched with Joni singing these jazz ballads of yesteryear. She is a serious musician and song writer with a magnificent legacy.

yes, well, you know? This video is a really great great piece of work. It has no weak points. It is also, autonomous. Every concept spelled was properly developed. No missing wires. I also guess that you've talked with someone who showed you all that. This video implicates, by itself, a deep understanding of argentinian history. That works well with the great pronunciation for the non-spanish speaker you are by birth (I mean, you pronounce so well the spanish) Or at least you saw spanish documentaries about the matter. Suscribed and liked, btw!

Holis! Thanks so much for your kind words! It always makes me feel like I'm on the right path when I read comments such at this :) I've been a fan of Charly's for over 10 years now. I began friendships with Argentinians online and soon had an Argentinian girlfriend. They showed me their music and I loved it all; my girlfriend motivated me to learn Spanish. I loved all the folk-rock, but never got into Charly's solo career until later - a friend of mine once said "when you understand all of Charly's lyrics, he will be your god". After that friend passed away, I listened to Clics Modernos and I couldn't believe how good it was. I then went and listened to everything he ever did. That was in 2016, and I have been obsessed with Charly ever since. I improved my Spanish to a point where I could have fluent conversations with anyone online and I ended up going to Argentina in 2020 to see Charly live (unfortunately, he cancelled his headlining show at Cosquín 😥). I have spent many years reading all about Charly (interviews, anecdotes, books, forums, etc.) and watching any video that exists of him, which is where I have gathered all of the information to make this video :) Thanks again and I will be making more videos on Charly's albums in the future. I can't say with certainty which the next one will be, but it will be made with the same love and dedication as this ❤ Saludos desde Australia!

I never answered back!
