I think Jamie fits into pushing the modern ideology of flat ground and batb style skating to its extreme and overall I’m glad he’s in the next round. That being said, as mentioned from another comment, it’s so hard to actually compare Jonny to 99% of other flat ground skaters as he’s pushed the blend of 90s free style w modern day flat ground I think more than anyone.
At first I was really mad he defeated Giger on the official BATB battle, but now that I know him a little more, I hope he gets very far, even to the finals, he is very talented and I'm glad Giger got defeated by such a monster and not a regular guy. Go Jamie dammit!
@@cesarg4328 - I think that Jamie has more to gain from going to the Berrics - Giger already has a huge following and brand, and can support himself with that. Jamie is probably 10 years younger and just starting out in comparison
@@cesarg4328 I agree I was so mad that he beat ginger but after this he's amazing like most of these was first try I really do hope he with the battle at the berries I'm rooting for him now hrs got some crazy ass tricks
@Daniel S I mean really though? I think Griffin does have the edge, especially in that last beast mode phase, but Giger is still undeniably massively talented.
@Daniel S I think they are equally talented John has done some crazy tricks he's just super layer back and he focuses in freestyle to Jamie solo focuses on flat ground and doing crazy tricks when johny was younger he would have had no chance
I knew Jamie was insane at flat ground but this shit confirms he’s an actual alien. The run around 6:30 is probably the most impressive first try flat ground run I’ve ever seen.
Nah I'm gonna call it out for what it is... This is the second time that I've seen in a game of skate where johnny has done a primo trick knowing his opponent's trucks are to loose to be able to do it. Fair enough doing it once but doing a second variation is straight up dirty.
@@theknightwhosmokedthelaugh7156 I think Johnny knows that Jamie would probably win 3/5 times, so he spotted himself a few letters in good fun trying to inspire Jamie to learn some primo tricks.
Bummed that Jonny isn't going to go further in batb, but after seeing this, I want to see Cole vs Griffin. Cole is really good at landing random stuff.
@Daniel S The contradiction is real. You just said "fun tricks" n then repeated to bash said "fun tricks". May not be fun to you, but they are subjectively fun. Anything counts, emphasis on anything.
Jamie is for sure the new generation. His bag of tricks is insane! Having all those deathblows on lock is impressive for sure. If he can keep his cool he'll win BTB no doubt! It's also cool to see Jonny being nice and humble. I hope we see the JG's in more games of skate in the future. I hope traveling gets easier or something, at least for BATB next year
Tre triple flip but you’re forgiven for being confused. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that one done on flat in my 15 years riding a skateboard, let alone first try
@@jspp80 haha yeah I think he wanted something more funny and creative, but when you give Jamie the chance to do anything he wants as opposed to a gentlemanly game then you get the fire 🐲 it was a great game either way 😎
@@cesarmoore7996 I preferred Jamie’s approach, if it were up to Johnny then Jaime would’ve lost trying to do basic freestyle tricks he’s never even tried
@@crabPEOPLE2000 btw. these primo stalls are very very easy.... I think they only did one of these to keep it special, but I'd love to see a whole series of them playing !!
Jamie is super good man. He’s definitely one of the youngerish dudes I like watching. He’s very technical and very smooth. Jonny could’ve wine doing all preemo tricks though but he didn’t do that. It amazes me that there really isn’t switch, regular, nollie, or fakie. You need all of them on lock or you aren’t keeping up with the progression of skating!
There were a few crazy ones in there.... Triple 360 flip, hard double flip, 360 pressureflip, late pressureflip, backside pressureflip among others Madness
🥇🍀Jamie🍀Griffin🍀BATB12 👍🏽🏆 These gentleman are currently my favorite street skaters. Honorable mentions, Alexander Rademaker, Jamie Thomas, Rodney Mullen, Chris Cole, Daewon Song, Eric Kosten, P-Rod, PJ Ladd, luan Oliveira, Yoto, Ryan Sheckler, Chris Jocelyn, all women skaters, Little Groms everywhere. Last but not least, most likely you.
Keep milking this you vs Jamie thing I guess….seems the youngins can’t stop commenting the same exact things video after video. “Hate you had to face Jamie round 1” “ aw man Jonny you would have won if you didn’t face Jamie round 1” “aw man my 2 fav skaters had to face each other round 1”, “ so sad Johnny isn’t moving past round 1”. “Aw that was most my anticipated game I hate that one of you had to lose”…..lol every single video same comments.
It's crazy to me that even the best modern flat ground skater in the world doesn't know how to get into primo. A lot of these crazy freestyle tricks are really becoming a lost art, which is a shame since some of them are insanely cool when done well
I haven't touched a deck in over 20 years but I still love the sport and it has always amazed me how everyone has their own style. Yeah, there are the keystone tricks but every skater has their own nuances in performing them, being the most noticeable during S.K.A.T.E. This was a fun watch.
I have no idea what tricks Jamie did lol, kinda looked all the same but somehow different, he's a beast tho. Heart goes to giger because his tricks looks cool to anyone not just skateboarders. It's like most people could land it but to actually make it look good and clean is another level. You should make you own BATB for flat tricks
imagine if they played a game of skate with every letter of the aplhabet i wonder what kind of tricks would go down that have never been tried in a game.
Such a gnarly game! It's good to see other skaters out there who are in Jonny's league coz now I've got Jamie to watch shred. Definitely going to subscribe to his channel. Thanks for the entertaining video, as always, King Giger!
BATB is overrated, Jonny will always be one of if not the best flat ground skaters of our time, and no competition can accurately compare him to other skaters
It’s gonna be frustrating for old school skaters to admit but Jamie is the next evolution of street skater. It’s clear that there’s more to tricks than what used to be considered the basics. I hope he can inspire future generations! Also shoutout Giger for always keeping the mood great and helping put Jamie on an ever higher pedestal. I hope griffin wins it all
Having a triple tre in the bag is like having an ace high trump card for a game of skate. That said giger could probably make a lot of the same tricks if he could flick the board harder, that's something Jamie perfected but it can be learned, he gets close technically just not enough rotation It is funny how incredibly uncomfortable jamie is with any 80s primo trick, they still look good I just feel like every skater who spent all their time doing tres and stuff are paranoid of the board being primo like it's PTSD, if you think you're going to land like that you bail immediately so doing tricks from that starting position is alien
Jamie is a beast love seeing different styles going against one another like this. You can see the gears turning in Johnny's head he's going to take some of those tricks to the lab for sure!
It would be super awesome if you could do like subtitles, but write the tricks that were done. This would be super helpful for beginners, and even me, skating since the 90s, couldn't recognize all the tricks. Awesome stuff, thank you for this!
These 2 are on a completely different level. Neither adhere to a standard style of skating. I'd love to see a skate sessions with giger, griffin and anderson. Imagine those 3 trying to one up each others tricks.
Giger should have went straight into doing really hard tricks to get the ska on him first. Instead he was doing the tricks that normally people can do. At batb
Hey Jonny ich weiß es wäre auch für dich anstrengend ;) aber es wäre cool wenn du das nächste mal die tricks rein schreibst. Würde sehr helfen - danke 🙏
