Without greed, he could never "Fleece" anyone. I never feel sorry for anyone that loses in stocks. The Stock Market is a Tool of Lucifer. Did you notice the Address on the building of LF Rothschild? Rothschild used the stock market the last day of the French Napoleon war to cash out high, crash the market, buy it back for pennies, and as the saying is, "Bought England overnight". It is the Rothschild's, Morgan's, Rockefeller, Warburgs that OWN America, and Citizens of it. They own the Federal Reserve, The Central Bank, the IRS, and countless corporations, the media. They use these to control and manipulate people. They created the Democrat party for that purpose. What this guy did, isn't a peanut in a tornado.

@@elizabethsohler6516Of course this crime is more devastating to the elderly, for several reasons. Older folks are often not of sound mind in later years, and taking advantage of this vulnerability is about as cruel as it gets. Older folks typically have a lifetime of savings, as opposed to more moderate savings of a younger person, therefore the dollar loss is greater for the elderly. Most importantly, the elderly have far less time left in their lives to go back to work to recover from such a loss, and they are often not even ABLE to work, due to health issues. A loss later in life can pose a desperate situation for the elderly. In fact, Bernie Madoff's elderly sister was so desperate after her brother lost all of her money, she shot her husband and then committed suicide because they no longer had the funds necessary to sustain their lives. Social security...is a joke. Regarding the level of "evilness"...I have no doubt older people suffer more from a crime like this.

Yep. The bad guys don't always lose. TECHNICALLY, Jordan Belfort has a net worth of negative 100 million. HOWEVER, he was ordered to pay back 50 percent of his earnings to defrauded investors, and he has paid back 10 million so far. That means he has made about 20 million since he got out, and he can spend the remaining 10 million however he pleases. He has a lot of debt to pay back, but he still has plenty of money to spend after he makes each debt payment. It was a scandalous, corrupt, and textbook sweetheart deal, but he is a very smart, charismatic person.

The initial investment was 10 dollars. Probably the ice boxes and the first load of ice cream. Unbelievable profits for something so simple. That is $52,735.32 right now with inflation.

$10 was what he spent on the first day; obviously once he sold out he needed to buy more ice cream from the supplier as well as more ice boxes. It was poorly worded, but he probably made $20,000 in profit total during the whole venture.

"Land of second and third chances" does imply that people have had a chance in the first place. What chance do most of us really have, with the "wolves" out there, the sharks circling, the vultures waiting to pick over what's left- all awaiting the unassuming, those who make the "mistake" of trusting another person who appears to be helpful. Not all of us invest (or have money enough to do so), but what these guys do really affects all of us. It affects the way we view one another, with concepts like basic decency, generosity of spirit and the benefit of the doubt being lost or abandoned as being the territory of "suckers." Every time white-collar crime is waved away as being all but victimless, we make the world a little less empathetic. It DOES matter, and the money doesn't come out of thin air. Somebody with less power- less money to start- always seems to end up paying.

It never occurred to me- why not, I'm not sure- that addicts on Wall Street might be using, in part, to assuage feelings of guilt. This is part of addiction: trying to suppress feelings and memories, often of our own behavior. (The "F-its," I call this, trying to not care.) It should be obvious to anyone that this would create a vicious cycle, particularly in a person who is not naturally a psychopath. It's easy to lie to yourself about why you're using, too. You may think you're a badass, but really you are powerless, and hurting on some level because you really DO care. Wall-street trader is only one of a number of professions in which drug abuse is rampant, encouraged, or part of the culture (include alcohol, and the list expands). Some of these jobs are lucrative; none are worth your soul- and eventually your life. Please consider this when planning your career, and take care with matters of conscience- as suppression of conscience "after the fact" doesn't work so well.
