JB is the consumate professional and a great ambassador to the sport. Wrestling needs guys like him.

I agree.. but I think most of the top wrestlers think the same way, most wrestlers aren’t doing it for the money.. Even though the top guys are making decent money but mostly it’s out of love for the sport and seeing USA Wrestlers being successful on the world stage. Most wrestlers are very competitive but very humble.

@@cricka09 Mostly sponsors ..Clinics..Camps..Guest speaking..etc.. As of 2020 Jordan Burroughs has a net worth of $5 Million.. The point I was making was most of the athletes are competing because of their love for the sport and want to see the sport succeed..Especially after the IOC voted to drop wrestling from the 2013 Olympics

@insidetrip101
@insidetrip101 3 года назад
I disagree. I think you could add maybe one or two weight classes, but going to 9 or more weight classes is just trophy hunting. Even NCAA has too many weight classes. There's really not a signfificant difference between a 141 and a 149, a 149 or a 157, or a 157 and a 165. . . they're all too similar. I like that there are legitimate differences between the weight classes in the olympics. The problem as always is the weight cutting. The weight class differences are very small, and because we have recovery time after weigh-ins people are able to cut significantly more weight. Some grappling sports have found other ways to do this, and I'm not a fan of the ibjjf about much at all, but they do their weigh-ins right. You weigh in directly before your match with your gi on and everything. If you give people less time to recover after weighing in, then they spend more time training their bodies and techniques and less time cutting weight. Tons of weight classes encourages weight cutting, and that's not a good thing.

Jordan being a WORLD champion and an OLYMPIC champion means he will make money off of wrestling for a lot of years after he retires. He will still be relevant. Kyle Dake will need to turn MMA or do something with his Cornell education unless he actually wins Olympic gold before he retires from the sport. Most people think he was done in 2013. He just never made the transition from folkstyle.
