When JB started to argue his points Dake stopped him and told him let’s talk about who’s better now. When JB was arguing why he is better now, Dake decided to talk about how a 2013 Dake would beat a 2011 JB. Dake even brings up Jordan’s wife in the full podcast.

World titles in freestyle is NOT relevant to this conversation. Neither is a 2013 win vs Taylor when were talking about a 2011 version. No to mention a different style. An anyone who thinks wrestling is wrestling has obivously never been ridden an turned in folkstyle. Freestyle is much different. More about explosiveness than control. That's great folkstyle wrestlers do better in MMA than freestyle. Taking someone down can be learned easier than holding someone down. So 2 years later in a different style is irrelevant. I think JB will pass the torch next year. Just like Chuck Liddell, roy Jones, A. Silvia. The split second he was faster an better will go an he will lose matches an positions he never lost before. Jordan couldn't even mount an argument contained within the premise of the hypothetical. The dude continually tried to speak on beating Taylor in freestyle two years after he graduated and used Ben's point to act as if he had somehow gotten worse since graduating. I don't know who wrestled the better guys because I wasn't into wrestling until even Dake had graduated, but I do know that Dake was the only one who could stay on track. No sort of insecurity in his voice or his points.

Like many college athletes, they both "went to school" for sports. That said, Burroughs is the one who doesn't know how to stick within the scope of the argument. He came off worse than Dake intellectually.

To be fair, Burroughs has always been two years ahead of Dake in senior freestyle experience. That edge seems to be the only thing that kept Dake from making world teams and winning medals. It will also be what costs Burroughs a chance at another Olympic medal. He's already in decline as Dake reaches the pinnacle of his career.

The problem with what your saying is that truly elite athletes come in and beat the people who have already been established even if that have more experience. Look at Dayton fix look at Yani look at J’Den Cox. The old saying is true if you want to be the best you have to beat the best and Dake could not do it whenever Burroughs was in his weight class to me it just shows he’s not the best. These other young guys have had older established wrestlers in their weight and beat them because they are the best regardless of the other person having a couple of years of international experience on them. Dake just wasn’t the best and still isn’t.

@@darkcircle899 Dake *was* not the best. Comparing Burroughs´ performance since 2018 (defeated multiple time, placed third in the last two world championships) to that of Dake (undefeated, two times world champ in 2018 and ´19), Dake will probably beat Burroughs either at 74kg or at 79kg.

Burroughs beat Howe at Midlands. Howe tore his hamstring shortly afterwards. I think that's what Burroughs is referencing; I don't think they wrestled again that year since Burroughs wrestled Caldwell at both the Big 12 (Nebraska was Big 12 that time) and the NCAA Finals.
