Not really. He has that slow dragging vibrato that many modern singers suffer from. I hear singers from the past and their vibrato is fast and flowing. Can someone knowledgeable of vocal training explain this?
Saw Camelot earlier this week. Jordan is an extraordinary singer who combined power, emotion and dynamics in a way that tugs at your heart. It’s impossible not to capitulate before his voice and impressive stage presence. He literally became Lancelot. Jordan has renewed my faith in Broadway voices which are increasingly lacking in quality and range these days. A recording label should snatch him up quickly and release a solo album dedicated to the kind of music he sings better than anyone. Bravo.
As long as he’s killing it with Lerner and Loewe, I’d love to hear him sing “They Call the Wind Mariah” from Paint Your Wagon. It’ll probably never happen, but a gal can dream.
This was the song from our wedding, love this song. We also played it at our three daughters wedding. This makes me cry, so many memories. What a fabulous voice.

Jordan's got that TRUE operatic, legit MT sound that you just don't really hear in a lot of theatre singers nowadays (of either gender) except maybe Joshua Henry. There are a few newer, contemporary legit singers but they often have very pop-y vowels, or they just don't have that FREEDOM and resonance in their sound. They don't sound as operatic, IYKWIM. But mr. Donica...he's got it. Brava.
I completely agree! I wish it was the same for the women. In every soprano role nowadays they cast someone who just belts their way through the score. Absolutely horrible.
I will say those types of singers still do exist and are still being trained, but Broadway producers and developers need to do a better job presenting opportunities to those artists. Right now, you can only really see them in revivals or regional theatre.
I saw the revival and he was incredible as Lancelot after seeing him in My fair lady in 2018 As Freddy Hill and when they announce he was casted in Camelot I said that revival is in good hands such a powerhouse actor
