I've seen people compare Jordan and Reeve a lot on social media. But these two play the character so differently it's honestly lovely. Reeve had an airy vocal for Orpheus, making it feel floaty and other worldly. Giving his portrayal a light hearted, lover boy image. Jordan has a earthy, darker vocal (at least in this clip) and it gives his Orpheus a more tortured artist feel. Pulling you into the pain he's feeling about losing his love. A heartbroken widow.
Part of that is due to Jordan Fisher being a baritone. His voice is naturally heavier and darker than a tenor. However, this also leads to baritones having stronger vocals when using their falsetto.
So um, Comparing these two is ABSOLUTELY what we should do. JF is not a tenor, he's a baritone making it WAY harder for him to do this stuff. Reeve is a super clean tenor who has no trouble going high. I'm honestly getting star casting vibes from this one. It takes different PRODUCTIONS to say we shouldn't compare. We shouldn't judge one Emcee in cabaret over another because they shape the production and if you put Alan Cumming in '68 it would mess up the rest of the show. Mr. Fisher is joining a production, while he should have his own take he doesn't get to change the story around it. If he's really going for a, "Tortured artist feel" that CHANGES the story. Idk man, that's my two cents, hope you're well.
I just the show for the first time this past weekend, it was Reeve Carney’s last show - sad to have missed him play this role with Eva! Solea as Eurydice def stole the show. I felt she was a mismatch with Reeve who had the airy and innocent vocals. Jordan and Solea, though. Will be straight up 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I saw Reeve and Eva and original cast twice, Eva once without him wasn't the same. I would absolutely love to see Jordan in this role too, his voice is insane. The thing about Reeve though, he is so naturally a guitar player too that it is just an extension of his arm. The show is amazing even on the road it was wonderful. I listened to the London cast long before we anxiously awaited its Broadway debut. Can't miss with Hadestown!
personally I feel like Anthony in Sweeney Todd was a miscast for him, but he is MUCH more suited for Orpheus and I'm glad he's getting so long in the roll
Absolutely BEGGING YOU, Hadestown, to release a studio recording with this current main cast. They are phenomenal and everyone deserves to experience them!!
I *need* someone to put Jordan in an original production of *literally anything*. He deserves to be nominated and recording. I've seen him on Broadway twice and the man does not disappoint.
just saw this cast today (Lillias white's last hadwstown show 😢) and I 100% agree, they should have given them a recording for this cast, Jordan and Lillias especially
Yes!!! I saw him and Solea Pfeiffer last December and the riff he had on stones sold me if his performance until then hadn't already. It's a very small part but I just love what he did with it there.
This is honestly the perfect show for him! He is phenomenal in every role I’ve seen and hear him in, but I feel this one matches him so well acting wise and with the amazing things he can do vocally. I would pay so much money to see him in the role. I just saw the original cast last May on Broadway and was crying within the first 3 minutes of Eva singing. I need a cast recording with Jordan tbh😅
Wow - having seen Jordan in other Broadway roles, what I was NOT expecting was for this to be bordering on a rock vocal. Took me by surprise and I absolutely LOVE it.
I just saw Jordan (and Lola!) tonight and it literally changed my life. I'd seen Jordan before in Sweeney Todd but this was completely different, the energy and stage presence was insane. (Also he came down the isle and stood 2 feet from me, and he made eye contact and smiled at me during the encore😁😁)
jordan was one of the absolute best people you could have casted for this role. You saw an opportunity and you took it. he sounds absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!
I recently saw this live and Fisher’s performance was Absolutely Gorgeous. Excellent chemistry, youthful, and certainly otherworldly. I cried my eyes out.
if anyone reads this... go see this show... go see jordan fisher. one of the best performances I have ever seen on broadway. his voice is unreal and he brings such beautiful emotion to orpheus
Reeve will always be my Orpheus as that's when I came across the show, but I am very much excited to see what Fisher does with this role!! Please, Hadestown YT channel, you gotta upload more videos of Fisher as Orpheus singing songs from the show! ❤
I would agree, but I’ve honestly been waiting so long for Jordan to be able to play this role. I think it’s perfect for him! I would love a cast album with him but I know that’s a long shot!
It's so cool to see him play Orpheus. I can still remember watching him play Holden on Liv and Maddie when I was little and thinking he is such a good singer. I can't believe he's made it to broadway! Hadestown is one of my favorite musicals, and it makes me so happy to see that he's come so far. Break a leg Jordan, and congratulations!!!
I’m so happy that I got to see him as Orpheus on Broadway. One of my favorite shows he and the whole cast did so gooood! Would definitely see this again and would definitely recommend this to everyone! Such a good show!
Wow, Jordan Fisher's rendition of "Wait For Me" in Hadestown on Broadway is simply mesmerizing! His voice brings such depth and emotion to the character, capturing the essence of Orpheus's journey with every note. The way he seamlessly blends power and vulnerability in his performance is truly captivating. Fisher's talent shines brilliantly in this song, leaving me completely spellbound.
Saw him yesterday! (It was my second time seeing hadestown) and he did amazing, my heart was broken. I’ve spent more time then the average person thinking about this musical and he does amazing
Just saw Jordan fisher tonight as Orpheus and he was fabulous. The other cast members were amazing. We had understudies do the roles of Hermes and Eurydice tonight and they were so good I don’t know how they were ever understudies at all. The whole cast is fantastic. I agree with anyone who says they should release another recording with the current cast because I want to hear their voices again. Tonight wasn’t enough!
I had the good fortune to see this cast at Walter Kerr this past weekend, and this number was by far my favorite. Completely blown away by the staging and lighting effects. Jordan's performance was rich with emotion. The entire show was absolutely incredible and I was deeply moved, especially as a former theater kid and as a person of Greek descent. Hadestown has quickly become my favorite musical theater show ever. Just beautiful.
I loved this number so much on Broadway. The stage definitely makes it more emotionally driven with choreo that I found was lacking at the LA performance. I would love to see Jordan doing this ugh I wish I were going back to NYC soon just for some shows.
I saw the show last night with the current cast and I literally spent the whole show with my mouth open in awe and tears in my eyes. I saw the original cast too back in 2019 and they were also incredible but GOD last night was so magical. Jordan and Isa did a fantastic job.
Hopefully I'll be in the neighborhood again and will get to see him, certainly wouldn't break my heart to see Hadestown again. I was lucky in Sept, I didn't know Reeve was still doing it. This guy seems like he'll kill it too though.
Both new actors made me interested for this play. I never heard abou this one before, but I saw a video with his couple and I love their voices so much. I watched the original cast, but honestly I prefer this one. I wish I could watch everything.
JORDAN FISCHER IS SO UNDERRATED I HOPE TO GOD HE GETS HIS OWN THING WHERE HE IS THE STAR AND NOT JUST THE SECOND FIDDLE TO THE LIKES OF REEVE CARNEY OR BEN PLATT
