Jordan Love proved me absolutely wrong. After I made a video about his slow start in October, Love went scorched earth and torched my terrible take. He improved at extending the play, improved his pre and post snap processing, and Matt LaFleur figured out how to coach the entire team just.. better. How did Love turn it around and where was I so wrong? This week’s episode uses the coaches all 22 to analyze Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love.

Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre all extended plays and thew off their back foot. Having been the only franchise in NFL history to have three quarterbacks back to back train each other. This style is very specific to the QB lineage of the Packers Style. 100% this. Love obviously had some struggles he had to get through too, but it was the entire offense that needed to get it together. I respect the fact that even on plays where the receivers made Jordan look dumb by running a wrong route, he never once blamed them in the media for it. (so many of his early ints weren't even on him) Just took responsibility and moved on. Such a great show of leadership and to me is one of the reasons they were able to turn it around.

@@RalphKetchumthere were receivers running wrong routes on a weekly basis until the midseason. Sometimes multiple times in a single game alongside drops. I think one of Love's biggest strengths is what he and his teammates and coaches describe as being "never too high and never too low" in terms of his emotions and composure. It's what not only allows him to brush off a bad play or keep focus after hitting it big, but I'm convinced it's what allows him to throw dimes off platform even when someone like Parsons is barrelling down on him. Cold as ice, incredibly talented and seemingly a great leader to this offense. That's my QB. GPG!

A strong arm for a quarterback can make up for a lot of weaknesses. Like you say Jordan is really good throwing off his back foot. Now I don’t think a QB should make a living from it - it’s harder to be consistently accurate - if you don’t have a strong arm the ball will simply flutter in the wind and get picked. Obviously a strong arm makes tight-window throws more possible as well as the ball gets there quicker and the DB has less time to react. But Love is on his way it appears. I have Green Bay as a Dark Horse in the NFC this year.
@ch.3569
@ch.3569 10 дней назад
The back foot throw and off balance throws seem to be a GB staple. I think they can pull off teaching QB's this because of how they acquire them. Most teams are looking for the guy who can play now. Packers are looking for the guy with the raw talent they can develop. They also sniped deals picking QB's in the 20's

Part of your assessment was right. But the circumstances regarding that Packers offense in the middle of the season had several variables including that adjustment period where LaFleur the play caller was trying to get Love and the offense on the same page. Along with younger players in the receiver group. So if anything it was just a textbook progression to see it all come together late into October and to November. In the end LaFleur bet on the right things about Love's strengths.

He's probably the best I've ever seen with that gesture too. Montana did it surprisingly well with his limited arm, and I remember Garcia doing it in games with a fair share of success. As a Packers fan I think people need to pump the brakes on Love and the team. We won ONE more game than we did the previous season. We played a very easy schedule and were very inconsistent the entire year. Even against truly terrible teams we did not necessarily blow those teams out. Our defense will always keep the other team in the game and our offensive play calling will keep everyone guessing. We saw some growth from some guys but the team is still really young and the jury is still out after an unconvincing year for some guys. Our offense is set up for a QB to succeed so I don't know if Love is a future hall of famer or simply a competent player that is comfortable in our offense. I definitely feel more optimistic than last off season but there is still a lot of question marks.

As the Falcons are calling it "The Packers model". Jordan Love, by the time he took the field, was FULLY equipped to handle everything, to perform without thoughts, everything being second nature, confidence present but not a concerning forethought of projection, just free flowing action. The Panthers and I would even say Houston are consistently doing it WRONG and have been since those teams were brought into the league. I feel like you overcompensated. Love has done a lot to improve, no doubt, but "throwing off his back foot" isn't something he should rely on. Age, wear & tear, and injuries will all affect that and I don't think it's a "reliable talent" (maybe I'm wrong tho). If he can do the rest, it still makes him a great young QB and it makes every other franchise jealous that the 'Pack are looking at a THIRD generational talent at QB while the rest of the league can't get a second. Still, kudos for pointing out his 2nd half stats and adjustments. Something to keep in mind for this recent touted rookie class.

He just needed time and reps to find himself. Underrated reason why he got better so fast is his desire to be great, always studying tape, continuously working on his game. I don’t see him having a let down or a step back season, he’s going to be a top 3 QB for a while.

The Cowboys wildcard game was a good display of what you can get out of him with the rest of the offense in the same page. Packers passing game punished the hell out of Dan Quinn's cover 1/3 style defense with all the mismatches down the middle of the field. Now Quinn is the HC of the Commanders, Packers gonna take their lunch whenever they visit the capitol.

Great video Alex. I havent spoken since the game. They've instatutionalized me. No im just kidding. I havent spoken about the Super Bowl since it happened. That illegal blocker for the Chiefs - Lineman Downfield wasnt called. He was affecting the play as well. He was in the face of the Dbacks. I get the whole 'dont make calls that change the Super Bowl' but it was a clear foul. Had they called it woulda been a 10 second run off and the game ends and Niners win. I know sour grapes, cry cry.

I don’t think the Packers are really threats for a Super Bowl yet but this team has some crazy potential if they can keep growing. The defense will probably be off in the beginning as they transition to a new defense scheme but if MLF and Jordan Love can keep up how they ended the season then they may be able to cover for the defense.

TBH pretty much everyone on this defense is a better scheme fit for the new scheme than the old one. And the upgrade at Safety should be significant.

Jordan love is the perfect example of scout the talent more than just the film. Love always had this in the bag, it was about developing his skillset. This alone makes me skeptical of someone like Jayden Daniels over Drake Maye. The film appears better but the translatable skills aren’t

Considering that they spent a first and a fourth round pick on him in the middle of a championship window, I'd say that he has to at least make a Super Bowl, if not win one, in order for the pick to be justified.

That's assuming that Rodgers can continue to play near his peak level for the next 5 years or so. Because it's definitely worth it if they get a long term franchise Quarterback out of it. It's like saying the Rodgers draft wasn't worth it until they won the super bowl.
@monophthalmos9633
@monophthalmos9633 14 дней назад
@@natewagstaff2516 Not really. The Packers lost the 2020 NFC Championship Game, which was absolutely winnable for them. The next year they lost a close game against the 49ers in the divisional round and would only have had to beat the Rams, whom they had already beaten that year, to make a Super Bowl against the Bengals, whom they also had already beaten that year. Nobody can say for certain that the Packers would have made or won a Super Bowl in either of these years if they had used that first and fourth round pick for other players, but there's a very good chance that they would have.

@@jessecook3378 Sure, Rodgers didn't play well enough at the end of the game and I'm by no means stanning for Rodgers, but there's a lot of blame to go around. The Packers' secondary struggled mightily and they had a hard time running the ball.

i wish someone could find my comment of rage responding to the 1st video you did about him and the outrageous idea that people are judging QB's without a full season of starts because its not how evaluation at this position ever works or should work at all. NO WAY! you mean to tell me young players are capable of improvement with more reps!?!?! the hyperbole of earlier was blasphemous, never do that again to a young player.

One observation I've noted is that it seems each generation of Packers QB leans back farther when he throws off his back foot. At this point, whoever succeeds Jordan Love in 15 years will be ripping 50 yd bombs downfield while limboing.
