To call this pitch illegal by saying that her right foot is coming off the ground is not illegal with today’s rules. When her left foot touches the ground before she releases the ball, that also does not make it illegal! I’ve never seen a right handed pitcher release a ball before her left foot touches the ground! The thing that would cause this pitch to be illegal, would be at the point where her right foot touches the ground in front of the rubber; but in my mind, it is not illegal, because she is not getting an extra push off the ground with the ball of that foot at that point! I believe if you have the background of truly understanding pitching rules, you will understand and agree with what I just said!
For those of you who are not umpires, but seem to know EVERYTHING. Umpires will hesitate to call that a leap, because her trail foot toe is pointed down. As the game progresses, there is a little recess, where pitchers drag the trail foot. We understand this . The umpires that work the Oklahoma games are supposed to be the best in the country. Its only illegal if its called illegal. Starting in 2023, leaping will be allowed .
She's leaping, but the question is, is she replanting her pivot foot? The emphasis may have changed since I had to hang up the mask, but back then we were more concerned with pitchers who were replanting a second time and pitching from 35 feet instead of 43 (or 40 in HS).
@@sethtyler2778 I agree. Personally, I would not consider this an illegal pitch. Many uninformed people will say she is "leaping". That terminology went out of fashion (at least among umpires) 20 or more years ago. As I said, the question is whether or not she is pushing off from a second spot. In my opinion, she is not.
This is no fault of Jordy Bahl’s, but showing us the same pitch to the same batter over and over and over again is not interesting at all. Figure out how to do an interesting video next time.
Something is a little “off” this season. She isn’t throwing with the same velocity and energy that she did last year. She appears to have lost some weight and of course the injury might still be bothering her.
Because it's not illegal pretty sure if it was Patty wouldn't have her out there. Most people who say it's illegal probably got their team shut down by her so it's the best thing they can come up with
@@mylesmarkson1686 it’s only a hop when you replant. Her foot comes off the ground for a second, but she is not re pushing. Go read the actual term for crow hop.
@@RubenMartinez-cl2sh She sure does, and then her front-foot plants shortly after. It's no wonder she's having so much success. She's half-way to home-plate before she lets the ball go!
She is good, but her pitches are illegal. Notice how her right foot comes off the ground and her left foot touches the ground before she releases the ball. It's ok if she drags the right foot. It's a shame no umpires call, "Illegal pitch."
