Jose Carreras - Recondita armonia 2010 

Belíssimo! BRAVO!

Are you kidding me!!! This man, in 2010, had just turned 64! He battled leukemia and survived, and then, he still continued to sing beautifully! He is one of the great tenors of our generation, yet I can't get the 52 dislikes!!! At 64 he sang a very difficult aria, in the ordinal key, with a clear voice and a fabulous vibrato! He knows what he is doing. He is a great tenor!!!

Whether it is playback or not, it is his voice, and since his performance earnings go toward his foundation fighting leukemia, I do not feel cheated in the least. His contributions to opera and to philanthropy have my respect, and his voice and stage presence have my heart.

He is amazing beloved tenor, and his talent does not need our ratings here. Nonetheless, I cannot help but comment that I absolutely adore his singing. Young or old, he is superb.

@BroadwayG Sorry friend, this is a hoax lip-synch, the whole thing. It is from the 1976 Colin Davis conducted Tosca, Carreras hasn't sounded like this since the 80's. The reason there even is a Baritone is because it is a lip synch, otherwise there would never be a sacristian in a concert. There is no need for him. The orchestra is not playing.

Uh, Mr. Lee, I am a Korean so I understand what you wrote. And I respect your comment completely, but you seem to forget one thing. This is a man who overcame one tenth of survival, and still sang with a most beautiful voice. That was not nice of you to write as him being the least of the three in taking care of himself. I think the effects of his battle with leukemia are catching up with him very rapidly. Chemotherapy, etc. He is the youngest of the three, but looks older than Placido, IMO. And as for this clip. Whether it is playback or not, my respect for this man is still great. But I think he should rest now. He has done more than enough to let us know what true music is, and what we should appreciate. Yes, to the man who was one of the three, ( oh how I miss Luciano ), I say, bravo, Jose. Your beautiful voice will inspire, along with Luciano and Placido, for generations.

Simplemente lamentable. No se me ocurre otra palabra ante este espectacular fraude a la lírica por parte de un EX-grande. ¿Cómo es posible que se atreva a hacer un playback con una grabación suya de hace mil años? Hace falta tener la cara muy dura. El ansia por el dinero a veces lleva a ciertas personas a perder todo resto de dignidad.

A los que tan mal les parece el Playback,decirles que es una representación puramente simbólica,solo el echo de su presencia y a su edad lo justifica.Digamos que es un homenaje a su gran voz. Decir también que también Corelli,del Mónaco,y Pavarotti (en menor medida) hicieron playbacks en algún momento de su carrera y por cierto a edades donde todavía podían cantar esas obras.No seamos tan tikis mikis!

I am a huge admirer of Jose Carreras and consider that when he was in his prime in the 70's and early 80's, before the demise of his voice accelerated by his illness and the undertaking of roles too heavy for his lirico-spinto instrument, he had the most beautiful tenor of his era - but the fraud perpetrated here is outrageous and unworthy of him. This aria is lifted from his complete recording with Colin Davis in 1976. What a circus.

Con 64 años José Carreras hace tiempo no lucía esa voz fresca y con muy poco vibrato....esa aria de Tosca está grabada en sus años todavía de plenitud....es un playback como una casa. Jajajajajajajaja

I heard Carreras ten years in Gothenburg. He was great as always. There was a bit of a strain on some of the top notes. Never mind, he was still great. I'm staggered today, seeing this video above, made ten years later, to hear such gorgeous fresh volume and not least a perfect top note in this difficult aria. Bravo José . You shouldn't worry about the destructive armchair critics.

Well I have had the chance to watch him live without any microphones at the Royal Opera House Muscat 6 days ago. He has sung this song. It wasn't the original key most probably. But it sounded PERFECT!!! Music should be more about the emotions than the pitch or high notes... He is still a great singer...

Easy for me to say, but I never attained fame, so I do not know how hard it is to leave the live opium behind and sit down. Really sad about this. Well, I'm positively suprised! Yes, he sings with a mike, but understandably so for such an exquisite and seasoned tenor. The colour of the voice is almost unchanged, it hasn't even lost its lush texture and warm tones. Well done.

@TheYoungTenor100 I grew up with Carreras, love the man, that is 1976 Tosca recording conducted by Colin Davis, Carreras hasn't sounded like that since the 70's. And if you watch him alot you can see, expecially now, the type of strain he shows in his body when he is actually singing.

I know that it’s prerecorded but I don’t care. And I’m not even interested in his voice. The thing that gets me here is how well done his lip syncing is (I’m not talking about the baritone.) I genuinely believed he was really singing for a second. Not even Pavarotti could do that at his final Torino concert! But hang on… If it really is prerecorded, then where is the original recording?

I think Jose is still in great shape, he has become more handsome with age, and his voice much more beautiful, stronger quality.

Carreras tuvo una de las mas bellas y potentes voces de la lirica. Pero no se que le esta pasando ultimamente para hacer esto y otras cosas que todavia entiendo menos en un personaje como deberia ser el: hace poco lo vi perder los nervios y gritarle a un reportero de tv ¡Visca Catalunya lliure¡ Sin venir a cuento. De pena, vamos.
