Jose Hernandez, recipient 2016 National Hispanic Hero Award 

This story has been repeated thousands of times, as a first generation Mexican American myself, with 3 college degrees and a masters, this is proof positive of the concept: "if you want something you've never had, be prepared to do something you've never done". This story is truly inspirational. I salute you Jose!!

What an inspiring stories to tell. I am here because of Prime video movie of his life "A million miles away "2023. Yay!!!

I met him two days ago; he is such an inspiring, wise, and humble person. I am so glad I had the chance to meet him. He told me: "Reach for the starts."

A very inspirational figure, Jose is. He worked the hard way to get into space, only the one time but 14 days he would never have had by giving up.

We share a similar background. My father immigrated to the United States from Monterrey Mexico in 1952 to work in the Steel Mills of East Chicago, Indiana. Like many other Mexican American families we grew up with, I’m grateful to God and this Country for all of the opportunities it provided my family. Through those blessings we have doctors, lawyers, engineers, business owners, teachers and other professionals in our extended family. I would love to know more about his foundation. I love to hear him speak to our children locally.

Es un excelente ejemplo de la perseverancia y motivación para muchos ..... cuando una vez estudie mucho para un examen de certificación en la industría de sistemas y lo reprobé, me acordé de su caso y me motivo a volver a prepararme y presentarlo, para posteriormente aprobarlo. En otra ocasión fui a la NASA a una conferencia y escuche que un niño estadounidense le decía que estaba muy triste porque su proyecto para un concurso de la NASA no había sido elegido y le dije ................ te sugiero que no te rindas, ya que no siempre todo se puede lograr en un primer intento y le recomende que viera videos del Astronauta José Hernandez y se motivara para volverlo a intentar. Despues supe que lo había logrado, le aceptaron su proyecto !!!

What an uplifting positive true story. I just shared this with my wife and 18 year old son and the rest of my family. May God bless this man and his family so that he can continue his good work of encouraging other children to dream big and aspire to live a life of faith, love and hope.

He is my Hero.............cheesy, but definitely a source of inspiration...
