Best in the world is subjective. Without doubt remarkable playing but others can claim to be as good ( Ian Bousfield for example)

I had the privilege of seeing Joe perform live a few nights ago. A simply stunning performance. Not only is he an incredible player, but he is also a great guy. After the performance, he stuck around in the lobby of the theater for two hours to sign autographs and talk to all of his fans. Truly an amazing musician.

@williamhiggins8688

Joe generates a superabundance of overtones throughout the entire range of the trombone. That's why his tone is so rich, and his high register notes are so full. I really question if most pupils can learn to generate those terrific overtones like Joe. More likely it's a matter of anatomy and physiology...plus practice, practice, practice, of course.
@ZarkosisSmash
@ZarkosisSmash 7 лет назад
william higgins If he had a superabundance of overtones, he would be extremely bright sounding (brassy). He has a very balanced level of overtones... This is why it sounds warm, not stale or bright. The last few notes of this recording have a lot of overtones, but still not a superabundance.

I just don't know why nobody in Scotland ever chose this song as the national anthem. It can be played either solemnly or soothing, playful or respected, energetic or dignified. And it's simple lyric is much better than "Flowers of Scotland" for an independent country.

To speed up your double and triple tounguing practice it slowly. Take a metronome and put it on a slow tempo and just play a minute straight of the same articulation on an F. Eventually you can raise the tempo more and more until you're an articulating master. For extra help practice just the off-beat of you double or triple tounguing. For example if when you double toungue you do the du-gu method practice just the gu. Since that's the weaker articulation.

@kevinchan1598
@kevinchan1598 6 лет назад
Yes, for solo playing it's a very good sound. French horn is a much different instrument, and is very hard because of the very small mouthpiece (compared to the very large trombone mouthpiece).
