What a joy this music is. Sometimes you feel, that you get close to the composer’s soul and emotions and this kind of intimacy becomes true in the case of St. George, especiallyt the works, that involve violin, his own instrument. For some reason I enjoyed especially the finale of this work. I thought that I do not care much for classicism but now things have changed because of this magnificent composer that captivates the ear. But when do we hear his music played in the concerts of big orchestras or in festivals? I challenge The BBC Proms co-ordinators: you had one tiny symphony of St. George in the 2021 programme - could you have courage to stage his violin concertos or sinfonia concertantes?? the next year?
Of course, there are many contradictions regarding composers, for us it is harder to find out the truth in these conditions. But, in my opinion, the big gain is that we can enjoy the music of these composers after so many years, although previous generations have somewhat neglected these composers. Anyway, thank you for the information and for the comment.
Maybe the classical era of Frederick II I would say. Maybe it's not totally accurate, but they are somewhat similar I believe. Frederick the Great composed beautiful Baroque melodies while Bologne is the inspiration of Mozart as he composed delightful melodies which would probably inspire Mozart. Thank you for the upload.
The Bach concerto for two violins is undoubtedly a great work. However,it seems that it is the only piece thus that we hear. There are other concertos for two violins. This is one of them. Also Viotti,Kreutzer etc. Let's hear them....
Yes, my friend, I am OK, and I try to enjoy every day that comes by going for walks (although my leg has not total recovered after that surgery) or meeting a friend to drink a good coffee somewhere on the seashore. At home I still listen to music, all genres, not only classical music, I watch movies and series on Netflix and read a lot of books. I hope you and your wife are both well and I send you all my good thoughts. I am always grateful to you for not forgetting me and being a good friend for so many years that I was active on RU-vid.
I think St. George is definitely a better composer than Mozart. His music is sharper, more passionate and more spiritual. Compared to his music, Mozart seems more boring, repetitive and mediocre.
