Le Grand Journal interview. Answering in french while promoting Brick at the 2005 Festival of Deauville.
Here's a translation attempt (sorry for the mistakes, any correction is welcome):
00.13: "What I become for the others doesn't really matters to me" (literal translation because I'm not sure of what he means here)
0.33: "When I was young I was more selfish, I was mostly concerned with my own pleasure. Since I've moved to NYC I went to college, I studied french, I visited France and Paris. I discovered that there's a world that I'm concerned with and that I love. I want to be a part of this world. And I think that the movies I made in the last 3 years... I hope they reflect that."
01.18: "I look at pictures of May 68 in Paris and it seems to me that it's exactly what should happen in NY now. It probably won't but if we can inspire with a movie, that is the goal for me."
01.41: "Mister Godard if you're watching this: Hello, call me please ! "
And then the host adds that he adores "Pierrot le fou" and "Le Mépris" (Godard) and also Brigitte Bardot and Anna Karina. That's part of the reasons why he learnt french in college.
