Попробуйте представить то время и исполнителя? Трудно, не правда ли? Возможно оно звучало не совсем так. Но факт, что ноты были написаны очевиден. И они принадлежали Краусу. Прекрасное произведение. Достойное великого композитора. Привет из Киева.

It is a portrait of Kraus, attributed to Jakob Samuel Beck.

Did he know about Mozart's violin concertos because the opening of the 1st movement sounds similar to one of Mozarts violin concertos

Kraus was born in the same year as Mozart, and died the year after Mozart died. Haydn admired Kraus and called him a man of genius, but I don't think the violin concerto is his best work. He is more admired for his funeral cantata and his symphonies. As with Mozart's requiem, the funeral cantata was one of the last things Kraus wrote before he died.

If you're looking for excuses you will find them everywhere I guess, but there are many more masterpieces than duds on youtube 😅 Also, while the piece might ba a bit lackluster, the soloist definitely isn't!
