As a Samoan born and raised in NZ, we were taught the basics of Maori culture from kinder to high school we knew how to greet, sing waiatas and even learn some basic Maori language/slang Been living in Australia for 6 years and yes stuff you did say is what I’ve experienced also. my kids were coming home learning Chinese language so I asked them what they had learnt or know about the indigenous culture, thinking it was the same as us polys learning Maori in NZ ? Yeah na none of that. I do have a question for you though.. in NZ it doesn’t matter where you come from, moment you step in that land you know who the owners of it are you know/feel Maori culture. But do you think had the treaty of waitangi not happened, NZ probs would be the same as Australia right now? In terms of palagi claiming it’s there land etc

Since i can remember as Samoan kid I always heard and was taught the samoan sayings such as, Loto Tele, aua le fefe, Toa le Loto or Loto To'a sayings in that nature of having a brave heart and no fear etc its like part of our upbringing like being a samoan instantly mean your born Great and you can do anything kind of vibe.

Danny - skiwi here who lived in oz for last 10 years, 100% agree re hamos who were born or bred in oz. They’re a product of their environment and are ozy by way of thinking and behaviour. The only thing I had in common with them was skin colour!

I respect and agree with these usos opinions. On top of that we should also try to focus more on winning, fighting in positive and peaceful ways that benefit us as people. As anger and drama can harm our progress as people, it distracts us from what's more important, progressing as people to make our way to the top. Cause when we get angry and lose our temper, we lose our focus and we fall into the trap of anger and hate, instead of focusing on progressing ourselves to a higher level of thinking and living. As it says in the Bible, Love is the most powerful force in the universe. Let them dwell in their hateful comments and ways while we focus on love and respect like our true Samoan culture, it's working perfectly fine for us. David Tua is a legend but he was also very young and naïve, it’s a lesson to all young Islander’s is to educate yourselves in all things that way it’s harder for the vultures to exploit you. I also heard David lost a lot of his fortune because of his ex wife and her bad investments.
