The story of Joseph Roth, a famous Austrian-Ukrainian writer and journalist of Jewish origin from Brody...
The story of Leonard Bernstein's parents, who escaped from Rivne and built a new home and life in America...
They are told by Oksana Lyniv, internationally known conductor and artistic director of festival LvivMozArt, whose family (as well as hundreds of others) were torn from their home and relocated to Brody during the "Vistula operation"...
In 2019, the International classical music Festival "LvivMozArt" had an exceptional occasion to commemorate the double anniversary of Joseph Roth - 125 years of his birth and 80 years of his death - a really unique event.
It was the first time in the history of Ukraine and Austria when commemorative concert took place in writer’s Galician Motherland, near the ruins of Brody Synagogue.
This building, while being one of the biggest Jewish temples of Eastern Europe, was half-ruined during bombing of the Second World War. As a living witness to tragic events, it made a real coulisse of unique artistic performance with modern staging, video installation and symbolic program, in which more than 200 artists and star soloists from the whole world will be engaged. Our special duty is to remind our contemporaries - «never again»!
