Josh Groban - Live Tony Awards 2017 - The Great Comet Medley 

The most painful thing is that all the other Best Musical nominees are still running and will be for years and this musical has already closed. That is a true shame. This deserved to run for a long time.

I believe, as a fan of DEH, Great comet should've won. It's totally absurd that DEH won. They didn't have songs where you started to dance to, they didn't bring out the best vocals from the actors, and they absolutely didn't have interaction with the audience. With all due respect... DEH didn't deserve it.

I don't know how anyone could watch this and not want to throw a million Tony's at them. Seriously, I'm still in awe that this only got 2 awards.

This is the show that should have won most of the Tony Awards with 12 nominations. Josh Groban is truly Pierre! Everyone in this cast is top notch and deserve more than they got!

Agreeing with ya'll down below. Though I love DEH to death- I fell in love with what it represents and the songs and character progression (all of it), Great Comet has stolen the trophy in my heart. I love how it expresses the innocence of Natasha and the Russian culture in the early nineteenth century. The whole cast is extremely talented and I love how actors (such as Lucas Steele and Josh Groban) manage to play instruments while singing and dancing. I might be being a twinge bias because I absolutely adore Josh Groban, but all in all, Great Comet has so much to stand for. The bilingual english to russian is so enrapturing and intriguing to me, not to mention them breaking normal broadway sound rules. This show, along with Hamilton, have rewritten broadway. Never in my life would I imagine this being on stage and me actually liking it. This is coming from the person who grew to love musicals through plays such as Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera. A lot of plays feature many backdrops and props to progress the plot in order to convey the setting and plot progression, but Great Comet actually doesn't need any of those to make the show great. There is little no furniture on stage, making it really just you and the characters. Speaking of the stage, I love the idea that some of the audience is actually ON the stage, making interactions surprising yet very hilarious. There are so many people on the stage, and there's so much to look at and enjoy. The two Tony's they did win was well-deserved. The chorus is absolutely stunning and the lighting is just breathtaking. In the finale ("The Great Comet of 1812"), I actually sat there in awe while watching all the little lights on the ceiling brighten and dim. It was so gorgeous to look at and so so mesmerizing. They really did deserve Best Musical, and I find myself desperately falling in love with this play more and more every day. But if this didn't win, I'm glad Dear Evan Hansen did.

I'm so glad that the Great Comet performed a song that included the company, instead of what DEH did, which was use a solo song. And don't get me wrong, DEH is amazing and Ben and Rachel deserved their Tony's. But I do wish that the Great Comet had won for Best Musical

As much as I love Ben Platt and think he deserved his Tony, the fact that this piece of beautiful nonsense (said as someone who's flown from the west coast to New York to see the show three times) only one two awards disproves his theory that what makes you strange makes you powerful. This is the strangest thing in the book

I really hope this show gets to continue its time on Broadway. After the popularity issues with Oak and the following controversy with Patinkin, this show really deserves another great run.

With all of my eggs in the Dear Evan Hansen basket, I still think great comment should have DEFINITELY WON.

I want to clear something up. I believe both Great Comet and DEH are best musicals. Where Great Comet put a little twist in a Russian novel, DEH took a real life experience. I'm not saying that Great Comet isn't realistic, I think it is, what I'm saying is that both musicals are two very different things. DEH touches so many people personally, that is the reason why it won, it was impactful. Now, do I think Great Comet deserved more awards than they did. Absolutely. The Choreography to this musical was AMAZING! Phenomenal! And Lucas Steele also should have won Featured Actor!
