Side point: I think it's awesome she kept the glasses on after that guitar riff, while embodying a character of "beauty". Classic media up until the current 21st century has always depicted beauty without glasses -- when characters with glasses go through a "makeover", the glasses disappear. It's great that perspectives within media, and ultimately society itself, is changing.
Yessss his voice is timeless and he’s so talented. I love how when he sings with talented women he lets them shine 🥰 because with that voice he could totally steal the show if he wanted
What I love about this performance is that H.E.R and Josh don't overpower each other; it's a duet, not a contest. Not to mention their voices blend wonderfully together.
Had to have Josh to make that girl sound halfway decent. She's so incredibly immature. My granddaughter can sing better than that girl could ever try to.
A lot of people will miss the boat on this one. The show was excellent and the singing was excellent. I thank God I saw the show and heard her sing with my Josh I loved the whole evening. ❤️💙💚💜😍🥰🌹♥️
No-one should underestimate the talent of H.E.R. She is at another level, ,and amazes me with each performance. Pairing H.E.R. with Groban was a real musical treat.

I actually didn’t really care for it, myself. I love showy musicians like Van Halen and Steve Vai, but the tone and “edgy” approach didn’t work for me in this arrangement.
I can't get enough of this! Growing up as a Black and Filipina girl, I was always taunted that only blonde girls can be princesses. I am a senior citizen now, but so happy and proud that I witnessed this in my lifetime!
@@thevoidalone and guess what? I was chosen as the Santacruzan pageant queen when I visited the Philippines at age 23. Of course, the photos were posted years later on FB, to shut up those classmates who had the nerve to send friend requests.
HER lower register is incredible, so much control, a soft texture and fullness. Josh Groban really used to be known for his baritone but his upper register so silky smooth. I also love how they switched up who held the melody and high harmony. Incredible arrangement! Incredible performance!

Guys don't do that. We'd be pissed off if a young black girl identified with this character because she finally got to see herself there, and then somebody tried to cut it short by saying but she's also Filipino. The op said that she as a Filipino person, never removing or holding One race over the other. Just identifying with H.E.R. Please we don't want it done to us, don't do it to someone else.
My dad is Filipino. He's one of 7 kids who all married outside their race and had children of their own. Trust me, I love him and my white mom equally as I'm sure H.E.R. fully embraces both parents backgrounds. She's beautiful and gifted. Let's celebrate that!
He closes his eyes at the high note. Her tone and manner of singing is amazing, beautifully understated with the vocal rolls etc. Shows the skill but isn't showboating. Really beautiful. Then she shreds the guitar, amazing
I’m glad you said this. I love X-Tina & she can sing anything, but for a while she would over-sing songs. J-HUD would do the same early in her career, but she has dialed it back, A lot. Sometimes less is better with certain songs.
The way H.E.R captured Belle’s character, soft and feminine, yet emotionally strong, loyal, and sweetly stubborn, blew me away. I was tearing up during the whole special but I lost it when they sang this one. Such a beautiful rendition of the original. They made me fall in love with Beauty and the Beast all over again 💛
Emotionally strong, sweetly stubborn, etc is not contrasted to femininity. Femininity is not acting like ditz; that is HYPER femininity. Two different things.
They both have buttery smooth voices. Ugh they fit so well together. Don’t even get me started on HER. She literally looks like a disney princess like literally her FACE was made to be one.
This version of Beauty and the Beast captured the same magic and beauty that the Celine Dion/Peabo Bryson version had which the John Legend/Ariana Grande version lacked. I started tearing up when Josh Groban and H.E.R. walked down the stairs with their costumes. Also, H.E.R’s yellow dress captures the essence of Belle better than the yellow dress that Emma Watson wore in the live action remake.
They are all great in their own different way stop comparing them they all offer something different Quit being so jaded and accept that they all offer something different and their own unique charm
Two things. First I really wish they would have done a studio version of those two singing this because I’ve waited years to hear Josh sing this song. Second. I never noticed that when she came down the steps playing the guitar that the guitar is a stain glass rose and that’s freaking beautiful. Very well done.
The beauty of being an 80’s baby & 90’s kid is that you got to be a kid during the release of some of the best Disney classics ever made. This is one of them. They did a good job. Sincerely, 80’s baby.
Winter, THIS is the best comment. It’s the best way to describe it. It’s the best way to look at it, and it’s the absolute truth. Our Disney movies were absolutely magical to us! We were/are so blessed for those movies and memories. (If other generations don’t get it, then I simply feel badly for them.) 💫⭐️🌟

@@SeattleRaindrop206 “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Little Mermaid” are my favorites from “my generation” (meaning they were released during my generation). I also love “Lady & the Tramp” and the “Robin Hood” cartoon (I believe that was the first cartoon VHS my mom bought for us, so I have fond memories of being so excited and watching it with my siblings over and over). These are probably the four that I am most nostalgic for and love the most. Later on when I was a little older - still a kid, but an older kid, I guess my two favorites would be “The Lion King” and “Anastasia.” Have you ever seen the Robin Hood cartoon?
This is the Disney Duet we needed and deserved! HER’s and Josh Groban’s voices were so crisp and clear that they just blended so well together! Also HER in THAT dress and doing the epic guitar solo is just beyond amazing!! ♥️♥️
Beautiful blending of two voices, each true to her/his own style. HER’s adlib “Just a little change” is so subtly placed. Josh’s velvet tone. The haunting cello in the background. Then the electrifying guitar riff. What an unforgettable finale! Music artistry at its best. So proud of HER representing her Afro Filipino lineage.
Belle has been my favorite Disney princess since the movie came out. I always wish I could see a black Belle, even in just pictures, so to see H.E.R. brings tears to my eyes not to mention the guitar playing! The little girl in me is so excited and happy. Thank you for this. 🥰💛💙
I am 65yo and have emotionally lived through all the reincarnations of this movie from it's beginning in 1990. It's very emotional to us all and that credit goes directly to Alan Menken, who wrote this incredible music that has inspired all of these talented performers to recreate it, over and over again, with so much passion and conviction. I am blown away by this performance from H.E.R and Josh Groban! Spectacular!!! Bravo, Bravo!!!!!!
Let's not forget to also thank the lyricist Howard Ashman who the original movie was dedicated to and who died before the film was completed. You cannot give Alan all the credit because without Howard, his work wouldn't have been the same.
H.E.R. put that RnB vibe in the song and made it her own. As a full-blooded Filipino myself, I love that she is so proud of her Filipino heritage. The music was so refreshing and she's so amazing!
They didn't try to make her fit the regular Aesthetics of a Disney princess. They let her be a princess in her own identity, expressing in her own special way. Not trying to mold her into a Disney typical image. I found myself wanting to hear the typical Disney tone of voice from her, but this is so organic and beautiful like her! And Josh held up a blended balance between old and new while giving us the traditional expression and poise of a Disney prince. ❤

@user-yi9qk5iv7o I assumed the OP was talking about the guitar and sunglasses. As they are H.E.R.'s signatures. H.E.R. also plays piano and drums. But the majority of the time, she is on one of 3 guitars. And I hardly ever see her without the round sunglasses, whether it be in an interview or performing on a stage. So, I thought it was cool that producers brought/allowed those elements in this performance.
I watched this show live and I was in tears seeing H.E.R. and Josh Groban singing together. I recorded it and to this day will not delete this show. Josh has one of my favorite Christmas cds ever called Noel. If you ever see it you must get it. This performance was one of the most exceptional moments I have seen on TV. Bravo to the cast! Loved H.E.R. In her yellow glasses and guitar playing.

I'll always love H.E.R's tone! Ugh, the way she sang 'Tale as old as time' at 2:48 - such a heart warmer. It's the little notes changes like these that do it for me, as opposed to someone riffing/running up and down a whole song lmaooo (not to say she did it here but just in general). And daddy Josh... Eats everytime! Such a powerful voice with so much control. i liveee
Well said! I really personally can't take people who over do runs like someone is chasing them. Too many runs ruins performances for me, but H.E.R always gets it right. She understands nuance.
I literally teared up watching this performance. H.E.R deserves all of the blessings she receives and so do her fellow cast members. Seeing the representation Disney is incorporating for every young girl to feel beautiful and represented is amazing!
representation is a new concept. No kid thought this when I was a kid. it was a cartoon film. even when the live cinderella came out, there was all kinds of races and personalities and still wasn't mentioned. this video is nonetheless a great importance. feeling beautiful and important is also inside us, no matter what disney said.

H.E.R.'s voice can make your heart melt! And Josh's voice was a perfect choice for the male! Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney Classic Song. It was great to hear this performance and even to hear the spin they put the song!
Just WOW!! They both complimented each other very well. His voice was so smooth and strong. Not over singing each other. This was amazingly Beautiful performance! The orchestra was phenomenal as well. ❤

Josh Groban's voice is literally PERFECTION 😍 This should've been the version done for the live action. And it course HER was the perfect person for the role of Belle. Her voice is so gentle and beautiful
This is the female version of Prince. This was a good special on TV and my 47 year old self watched it twice. I love the music and I cannot get enough of Josh Groban’s voice. Fell in all likes with him since appearing on the Ally McBeal show.
Wow, that was stunning! Geez Josh Groban can sing his butt off. His tone is so pleasing to the ear. He could sing the phone book and I’d listen. Then Her ate every minute of that up and the electric guitar solo, c’mon! That was an incredible performance!
