Maybe the years have been passsed away but Mireille is still singing so beautifully !! I feel so lucky that I had the chance to spare my youth with her beautifull and unforgetable songs !!!
Many of us Americans love Mireille Mathieu and have been loyal fans since she first appeared on the John Davidson Show in the 60's. Please forgive when you meet up with an ignorant person that comes from our land . . . there are multitudes of good, kind people here that love MM. . . same as in Europe or any where else . . . Please do not ignore all the good people all over the earth due to the ignorant. BRAVO MIREILLE!

Only people from Europe are truly familiar with the beautiful voice and talent of Mireille Mathew. It's true, in this song she doesn't sounds very good, but her voice has charm the hearts of many people for several decades. She is not young any more but some of her songs will never go old. If you realy want to hear the true voice I then listen to this song: "Amour Defendu" only then you will understand why she is so popular in Europe.
I've met him...he's very charming. Keeps constant eye contact with you and makes you feel you are all he cares about in that moment. Such a great guy. Gives great hugs!!!

I remember French class in Atlanta in the 70's and recordings of French superstar Mireille Mathieu. She was beautiful and amazing then and I'm happy to see she's still around. Still beautiful. Of course, she's not the singer she used to be, but she's earned her fame. She can't hold her own vocally with a young guy like Josh Grobin anymore, but who cares? Before you blast her, consider finding out who she is and then understand why Josh Grobin was honored to meet someone of this stature!
I've always loved this song. When I was a little girl, I use to stand on top of our septic tank, and sing, Over the Rainbow. LOL Had no clue was was really under that septic tank. LOL But really, it was my stage, it was where I played like I was singing in front of an audience.
YES, MIreille is still giving concerts world-wide, is about to release two new albums in French and German (adored there) albums 40 and 41 (can Cher say that?) Her 50th Anniversary Concert at L'Olympia (like her 40th -see her DVD) is already booked, a tour of France to follow... Her next concerts will be in March in Russia (Idolized there), followed by a tour of Germany, -the usual for her. She was also the first easterner to be invited to sing in China, greatly respected in Japan. She's CLASS.

Ya, I wouldn't be so quick to discard those that are a growing older. I must admit this isn't her best singing, but I've been listening to her singing via youtube and she has a magnificent voice. Even Josh will get old one day.
Mireille Mattieu was and is the international star known all over the world. The guy next to her wasn't even born when Mireille's name was a household name (other than USA, of course). For all the critics here, I suggest you listen some of her solo singing.
You just need to quietly go away if you don't know the history of the music. Groban's stocks just went way up in my books after watching this video. Mireille is simply the best!
I think that Josh would do an INCREDIBLE job singing in Portuguese, but then, I've all of his albums, and want more. The first time I heard him sing, I just about feinted from loss of breath!!! I love velvet, and that's his voice. Anyways, I just wanted to express my desires. I'd be the first one to buy his album in Portuguese.

Im 32 and I have ALWAYS loved Mirelle personally I don´t think it has to do with age but with good taste and knowing good music and not the crap that most of young people now days consider music..

I saw this show live on TV - with Josh singing solo as well Mireille was famous in the UK in the 70s - appeared in the Royal Variety show. She doesn't appeared to have changed since then!!! And I still have her perfect bob as my hairstyle!!! Tigs x
According to another poster, Mireille was born in 1946. That poster also said that she was famous worldwide in 1966. This video with Josh Groban is the first I'd ever heard of her. I was 12 in 1966, so if she was "famous worldwide," I should have heard of her before this. No doubt, she is a talented singer..
It is one thing singing solo, but when you sing with someone like this, who has her own style and sound, it is very difficult to stand out, without being overpowering, Solo and in harmony with another is a totally different thing. I think he handled it quite well! Mary Mathieu is an icon in France and known around the world for her style!

They compliment each other; Lilian sings it straight from the heart and Groban just SOARS to another realm. Lilian has a bit of an accent which is endearing and not a distraction for me. Such an outpouring of emotional depth of feeling. I cry every time listen. This version touches my heart and soul. Lilian is so handsome with such a great voice and stage presence. An international superstar in the making. He came out with a CD in French and altho I neither speak nor understand french, the songs transcend words and I can feel their emotional impact. To see two beautiful souls sing a lovely song for our enjoyment was very heartwarming. Then to read these comments and see so many hurtful things being said about Josh and Ms. Matthieu, and also about each other is very sad. How can we be so mean to each other, and so demanding of perfection from those who have the courage to put themselves out there to try and bring us a little happiness? Mireille Mathieu was born in the South of France in 1946. Her first performance was in November 21st 1965 and in the very next year, she was already famous worldwide. She's the Ambassor of the French Culture nowadays. Look up at some of her songs, especially the album "De Tes Mains". She's amazing and in this video it isn't her best performance (and her accent is stronger than on her other english songs) but she's gorgeous. If you still hate her after watching her other videos, you're an idiot.

yeah...his voice is MESMERIZING...it's just that i never imagined him singing in portuguese before..that would be rare..i'd love to listen to that one day. If that did happen, it's like I can imagine hundreds of Grobanites clogging up the stores, especially Portuguese Grobanites..if there are any. I'm sure there are.

Mireille never really sounded that great in English but, she sounds great in Italian, Spanish, and French of course. Also to all of those who don't know who Mireille Mathieu is, she's the Successor of Édith Piaf; another French chanteuse. Also, she had great German songs like Der Pariser Tango; was a great one, so I wouldn't judge her English songs until you heard her voice in the other languages she mainly sang in :P.
