I wanted UGA to play USC in the playoffs, but it didn't work out for them. Perhaps I'll get my wish next season, on the Dawgs quest for a 3peat. Good luck next season Trojans.
@Josh Pate appreciate the honesty. The USC hate is real and we know it. If the current format would have been in place back then Pete Carrol might have had even more "chips".
USC is building something nice. The offense is stacked. The defense picked up some size, experience and depth at LB and DL. If they add the Bear that will give them two 5 star starters on the DL. The secondary looks longer and more athletic with a few freshman and second year players stand out this spring.
I also grew up a young kid in the south but my family was from California so I grew up loving USC 😂😂😂. But yeah they were despised everywhere I went. Haters love a winner

I was so lucky to attend USC during that dynasty era. But unlucky at the same time because I enrolled in 2006.. didn’t get to see us win national championship.
@@hiphoprbloverjon9180 Yea, a lot of people overlook that team. I think they were better than Florida. SC had more NFL picks than Florida or Oklahoma. Sanchez was #5 pick, and 20 guys on that D played in the NFL.
The PAC 12 had the most ranked teams in the top 25 out of any conference at the end of last year. They now have the best & most quarterbacks returning of any conference this year
I'm certain that if those teams and QBs were put up against SEC defenses...... they'd be crying a bit. Just saying. Real competition has a way of separating the SEC from the children's daycare centers like the P12, B10, B12 etc.

@@ninefingerjack And I have to point out that since 2000, 14 of the 23 titles have been won by SEC schools and that takes into account that Auburn went undefeated in the SEC, won the conf title and still got cheated out of a national title appearance when Cam was there and it does NOT include the year that LSU "split" the title with USC. So there's that little factoid as well.
Compared to what Kirby has done since 2017, is it though? I look at what Georgia has done in that timeframe, and outside of Heismans, Kirby has five division titles, two conference titles, two actual National Titles playing extra games (not half a title and then stripped of the other title like USC), a ton of big time bowl wins, a better winning percentage, and a ton of players getting individual awards for the best in their position. Kirby doesn't get the media love of a Saban or a Carroll, but Georgia's six year run starting in 2017 takes a back seat to no one.

Pete went only lost one non conference game, losing to Texas in the natty. 4-0 vs SEC, beat Penn State, Iowa, Ohio State, ND, Michigan, VaTech who were all highly ranked teams. Had 3 Heisman winners if you go back to 02.

It seems like everyone forgets that the guy is only 39 years old. He has so much time to break through to the next level. How many coaches under 40 have won multiple Nation championships?
I think USC is more than capable of being in the playoffs, they just have to avoid being cannibalized by the rest of the PAC-12 and have things go the right way in the other conferences. Also when they join the Big ten, they are going to be an instant top tier team. Although they should have a forward base when they go on the road with UCLA, perhaps in Milwaukee, Cleveland or Grand Rapids to get plays acclimated to the northern part of the country. Or just buy a old 747 or something like what the Patriots do.
Only question with USC you need to ask is do they have a defense. If it's the same as last year, yeah they might "get in", but they will make a quick exit like Lincoln Riley has always done. The only thing of interest will be past tense, "they hired" Lincoln Riley.

Dude, you keep saying that Riley will "learn." Yeah, sometimes it takes coaches awhile to learn. It took Kirby 4 years of mediocre, manball offenses run by Jim Chaney and James Coley before he learned. In three years of Monken's pro-style spread he then won two national titles. Guess what? We're going on a lot longer than 4 years for Riley, and he still hasn't learned. Also, it's not about his DC. It's about effort in recruiting on the lines, both lines, and in your LBs and DBs. He doesn't value defense. He's shown us for over 7 years that he doesn't value defense. Maybe after year 8 he can "learn," but odds are he doesn't. Not saying he can't win a Natty. Mack Brown is Mark Richt with a Ring. If Mack Brown can stumble into a Natty, so can Lincoln Riley.
Using your logic, winning the Championship is all that matters. Forget the other 120 teams and multiple games played , all meaningless. This is college, not the pros. Support your local teams and bowls.

I don't under stand this Lincoln stuff. Oklahoma program is just good as usif not better. Oklahoma recruits 4 and 5 star players and Lincoln couldn't get it done there.
Here is the thing, he had the chance to hire an at least “good” defensive coordinator at Oklahoma. He made a lateral move… I don’t know that a great D coordinator will want to join him with his lacking workouts. He fired one of THE BEST strength and conditioning coaches at Oklahoma to move over to yoga basically. He builds smart quick guys. Not smart, STRONG, quick guys.

Nope. They don't play championship football. As much as the game changes, some things never do. If you can't control the clock on offense while having a strong defense, your peak is a conference championship in the years that you manage to stockpile enough talent to compensate for the shortcomings you created. Pete Carroll's teams had top tier defenses, and they controlled the clock. Riley's teams have not, and it doesn't look like there's any effort to do so.
2002 - 2008, not 2003 -2008....Not sure why you left out 2002? USC was 11-2; destroyed IOWA in the Orange Bowl; finished in the top 5; and, Carson Palmer won the Heisman.....

Pac 12 is going to be tough in its last year. No way they are 2nd tier. They have always handled the Big 10 pretty well. Even in the last 13 years of probation and coaching dysfunction they were still over .500 against Big 10.
Carol created NIL, and was a great coach without much competition in the coaching community. Riley has to compete with Smart, Saban, Kelly, Day, Sark, etc etc. Ain’t gonna happen!
I'm a USC fan and yeah they are pretty entitled, but I don't know how you judge them the worst of all. They have had a decent record since 2008 (far from USC standard). Not many other programs could do better going through the ridiculously harsh sanctions from the NCAA, and the dysfunctional coaching. All that is in the past. In one season they went from 4-8 disaster to nearly making the play-offs. USC is back as a football power, you can bury your head in the sand if you want.
They have a long stretch of games after the bye week. Especially going to an invorment in both notre dame and Oregon. They’ll be battle tested for sure
How have people still not caught on to Riley's gimmick? USC fans sure said he was a choke artist when he was at OU. It's going on 7 years now. He's been the head coach of TWO top 5 Blue Blood programs. He's had three Heisman winners, he's been to FOUR playoffs....and has absolutely nothing to show for it but BIG 12 championships that literally had no competition while he was in it. Texas and everyone else was down his entire time at OU. Now he's still getting beat up by 3 star Utah multiple times and losing to G5 teams to end the season. He changed absolutely nothing. Same horrid DC, same schemes and the same awful S&C program. The same one that makes his players look like a high school team next to the SEC. Oh he might have enough juice to make a playoff but a SEC team capable of embarrassing him will always be waiting for him. IMO, his S&C program is his biggest flaw, followed closely by Grinch and that Speed D concept.
Texas, Miami, and USC are the most hated teams ever when they are winning. Texas is already the most hated team in college football so if they were a top 3 team yearly? The college football world would hate it lol

The Pac12 is by far the weakest conference in College Football. Lincoln Riley was scared of coaching in the SEC. He likes playing in weak conference where he has by far superior talent than his opponents. OU to USC was perfect for him.

Lincoln Riley isn’t a new coach anymore. He’s been at this a while. Great coaches identify problems quickly and attempt to fix them. He has not done that.
