This song for some of us, just hits different. I've been in this fandom since 2018 so it means a lot to me and also the lyrics and vocals are insane. The chorus it's just like heaven, thank you for your reaction, you should listen to his other songs like " Only a Matter of Time" it's so good.

Basically the song is about drama he was in but he relates to how ppl how have hurt or abused him have held so much power over him and he’s not letting them anymore. To break it down a little more at the start of the song he says “I don’t know what I did to deserve all this” and it’s basically referring to the Olivia Rodrigo drama and how her fans sent him death threats and harassed him all of last year. And then when he says “wasn’t sure I’d survive never felt so weak and nothing really seemed to help it” is about how when she first released driver’s license he started to get sick after and was hospitalized with septic shock and heart failure and was told he would have died if he hasn’t gone to the hospital in 12 hours. He only had a 30% chance survival and they said it was stress triggered. Obviously not just caused by stress but definitely triggered by it. When he says “you don’t get to take all of me, set me free” that was written towards Olivia but he has since said it relates to a lot of ppl and specified it also relates to the sexual abused he went through starting at age 5. And he was then groomed as a teenager. So for us that support josh this song is very emotional for us bc we know everything he went through and how hard it’s been for him. Also the girl he was dating when drivers license came out was Sabrina carpenter who you’ve reacted to. They were both harassed and sent death threats and and continue to be harassed just not as badly. And Olivia did nothing to stop any of it. Josh and Sabrina did and continue to try to get ppl to be kind.

Some other songs of Josh’s I really love are - Feel something Very much pop but a fun music video and is like a coming of age movie -only a matter of time So good lyrically doesn’t relate to any of the drama but is super good -crisis and secret were the songs that came before this song and basically are about Olivia Rodrigo but are definitely worth listening too Also I noticed u said he’s very good at expressing the emotion of something and he is an actor.

He is amazing! He writes his own songs, plays guitar and piano. He has an amazing falsetto voice also that can be heard very well in Only A Matter of Time. He also co produce the songs. He has a huge future ahead of him, and is signed at Warner. Thats a huge label and they Actually let him control how he wants it to be done... They know they have gold. They wanted these songs out right after Olivias Sour album, but he wasnt ready to tell his side then until now. So they waited. You should see his interview on Zach Sang show. Shows what a good soul he has. Also all of the presaves of the EP for these 3 songs he donated 1 dollar for each pre save from his own pocket to mental health charities. I think it ended up being 22K or something. And the rest of the earnings the songs get Will Go to the same. He isnt here for the money. He is here for the Emotions the music brings to People. I am 10 years older then him but have become a fan. Cause I see a younger self in him I guess. I also work as a music producer in EDM genre and is working on remixing Secret. Hope it turns out well 😎 Also I dont care for the drama. I think Olivia is talented also, but for some reason she was the one that blew up last year. And thats fine, but I feel more honestly in his writing. The drama is caused mainly by Olivias "fans". And it nearly killed him. And thats going to far. People sending death threats because of Teenage romance songs. Unbelivable. But he ended 2021 coming out on top and shows the strength and strong personality he has. What I dont like is Olivia staying quiet the whole time. Yes she is only 18, but I have been 18 also. And in NO WAY would I sit quiet and Look as People in my life receives death threats cause of music I have made. I would shout it out that you are No fan of mine if you do that. An artist can write songs about their Emotions and what they have been through. But there is a point where the artist is responsible for the art they have created and the discussions and situations that comes out of it. Thats when you have to jump in... She never did. And she never Said anything to him when he was in hospital with a 30% chance of survival. He dont name names, but in the Zach interview there is countless of times where its evident Who he is talking about. Anyway, Great reaction🙌

i love ur reaction so much, you shoud definitely check out his other songs, i recommend only a matter of time and LA, the first one is from the ep he released last year and LA sadly is unreleased ( is from his online concert) but is on his youtube channel, he is one of my favorite artists and people, also 100% of his earnings from his song "crisis" are donated to mental health organizations in perpetuity. i would love to see more of u reacting to josh!!

Nice, little to high tenor for me, but it was very good. Piano was super supported song and vocals beautifully.

Great message. I liked the lyrics, except for the F word, that have so many alternatives that aren't watered down by overuse in daily conversations. A lot of work to get that piano out there, but he's not the first to put pianos in hard to reach places.
