These days, thanks to a global pandemic, Joshua Fleming, lead singer of Vandoliers, is taking it easy and appreciating a little rest from constantly being on the road. Here, in this interview from home, Fleming reveals a couple of his non-musical talents, shares some of the things he collects, and discusses the worst jobs he's ever had. We also talk about music from Texas and the inevitable convergence of Punk and Country. Make sure to check out his big, exciting news at 2:15.
PRODUCER'S NOTE:
I first discovered Vandoliers on August 15, 2019 at The Earl in Atlanta. My buddy, Jeremy Ray, was opening that night and releasing his new EP. Though a few of us were really just there to support Jeremy, we decided to stick around for the headliner. Maybe a song or two. It was Vandoliers. And we never left. Their energy and their sound were absolutely captivating. It was one of those nights where the music Gods reward you with something wonderful and new. I've been listening to them ever since, and, as music tends to do, they've led me to discover even more great artists that were previously off my radar. This is why we see live music. So wear your damn masks, and hopefully soon we can all get back to doing what we love.
* The Postcard Interview is a short conversation series by Jarrett Bellini. The concept is simple: We take a bunch of postcards with questions on the back, pick them at random, and then talk.
