Joshua Redman joined the forum and in the spirt of improvisation, we decided to see where this title, as a departure point, would take us. Some of the many things that Joshua spoke about eloquently and insightfully are the ways jazz and improvisation can be practiced conceptually and as a craft; the oral and recorded tradition of jazz; the influence his humanities studies have had on his music-making; his experience as a bandleader and collaborator; sense of timing in solo practice and joint music-making; hedonism of music-making and art's relevance in our lives.
