Wow, those are some stellar captures! I'm going stargazing tmrw night as it's supposed to be a new moon, which i guess is the best time to see the stars. By the looks of this video, I'm guessing i won't be disappointed. Awesome vid and chill music too!

Does it really look like that at night or is it somewhat edited?
@forced_perspective
@forced_perspective 2 года назад
Its somewhat edited but not that much. After you have been standing in the dark for a few hours with no outside light then you see the milky way and all. Just if a car rolls by or someone turns on a flash light then your eyes take a while to adjust again

Whats the best time of year to see the full milky way galaxy??
@forced_perspective
@forced_perspective 2 года назад
So out here in California the best time to see the core is between April and September .. what they call 'milkyway season'

@@forced_perspective dumb question, but are the stars that bright and visible in real life as well? Or is it just the camera?
@forced_perspective
@forced_perspective 2 года назад
Haha not a dumb question at all but once you are out there with no light for a few hours it starts to seem as bright. The camera does enhance it a bit but they are way brighter than you would see under city lights

can you see the milky way with your bare eyes?

Hi Joshua you sure can as long as you are in the dark for a while and your eyes are adapted to the darkness

@joshuafachtmann8143 2 года назад
@@forced_perspective wow , that's amazing. Basically you'll be able to see more in real life compared to pictures I'd imagine... around what time of the year did you go and what hours was the best view?
@joshuafachtmann8143
@joshuafachtmann8143 2 года назад
@@forced_perspective I been trying to see the milky way in person but for some reason I cannot seem to. I've been to Joshua tree several times but conditions weren't all that great or just no milky way. Also went to Julian in San Diego county , stars were amazing but no milky way. Almost thought I saw some aurora type lighting in the sky . Should check out Julian , its amazing!
@forced_perspective
@forced_perspective 2 года назад
@@joshuafachtmann8143 I have not heard of Julian but I will definitely check it out. So actually "milkyway season" as they callnit starts about now February to October. Thats when you can see the core of the milkyway.. then you can get an app on your phone like sky view which will show you approximately where to look. After that just let your eyes settle in with the darkness. It will be hard if people are around with flashlights and cars passing by. Actually I'm going back end of this month which is a new moon
@forced_perspective
@forced_perspective 2 года назад
@@joshuafachtmann8143 just go when there's a new moon and the hours will vary. Right now you may start to see it later in the night like 3 or 4 am but later in the season it will be earlier and earlier
