I do believe though especially in the western world there is such a great need for mental health funding by governments. Certainly Australia would be on that list also. That is where your videos do add to the world, time out to enjoy the creative process. Crafting is therapy and I believe we are closest to God the Creator when we ourselves create. Perhaps even the closer we are to God the closer we can be to one another. ❤️

The one thing I have learned for sure is that the junk journaling community are some of the nicest most generous people I have ever had dealings with. There are nights that I try not to picture all my 11 grandbabies and 7 greatgrandbabies worrying about just all kinds of things. We had a lock-down at all our county schools. Scary. I told him “this is my friend Gayle” and he said “does she have grandkids too?” I laughed and said “yes”..thinking he is probably thinking grandmas have other grandmas as friends.. I often watch my several RU-vid channels early in the morning, and I had dozed off and woke up to your video, and our conversation about the mass shootings. I absolutely LOVE your channel and have been watching for a year+. I don’t comment very often, because I know you have lots of subbies who you have known for years, but I was compelled to respond. Wh n you started talking about the mass shooting at a grocery store, I thought it was the King Soupers in Boulder Co. and here it was last year at the Walmart in El Paso Tx.!! What tragedy that there have been so many shootings where innocent lives have been lost. We really do need need to find change. Show love, kindness and care for others. Unfortunately the country is not any safer, and there have been more mass shootings and violence in our lives than I would ever have imagined just a few years ago. I am 67 years old, and like you, crafting is my happy place, my safe zone. Thank you so much, because even several years after this video was filmed, this was a necessary conversation. Many of us share your pain! And we do need to talk about it, and acknowledge that it hurts our hearts. Internalizing it doesn’t help, the only thing that helps is ACTION and PRAYER. Yes... it does break our hearts. I remember a book my mother had when I was a little girl. Its title was "Let my heart be broken by the things that break the heart of God." I was... and am a tender-hearted person, so I remember thinking I never wanted to read that book. I still do a lot of avoidance but... less than a few years ago. The heartbreak---it is out there, and it is impossible to avoid it at times... plus I was a teacher for 36 years, and I just can't get "how to help this" questions out of my mind. I do so wish the world could get a slice, a steady diet, of all the kindness and good people in it... The spotlight doesn't shine on the positives very long and even then... it feels a bit dramatic and heavy-handed. I do get a lot of joy from your videos. I do think of this community as friends... Thank you for sharing and for keeping politics out of it... Please know your ideas spark goodness and joy every day.

I was a newspaper reporter for many years, in two big cities with lots of crime and horribleness, not that those things are exclusive to cities. Trying to "wash off the day" is precisely why I got into crafting and other creative pursuits. All these years later all I can say is: Let's get weird together! Thanks for sharing today, I know it wasn't easy for you. My heart is still aching for everyone affected by these awful events, even for those of us left observing, wondering why we don't come to grips with our problems.
Oh Gayle i wish we could hug it out right now . I know we have never met but iIagree that I feel like we are all friends in this crafting community . Some days when i am in my happy place i feel guilty as if I should be doing the more "important" stuff like work or laundry or cleaning etc etc . but I guess I should give myself a break . Like you said it is a place of peace and relaxation and thoughtfullness If we give ourselves permission to refill our soul we can have more to give others . I dont have any answers regarding these awful shootings, but i agree that the hate and aggression everywhere touches everyone. I live in Australia and am mourning along with you all. I retired after 30 years in a school district. I was concerned about the students & faculties safety for the last 8 years or so. Please & thank you for your candor.

Big hug, Sweet Gayle! There are so many layers to this topic. You hit on a couple, empathy and kindness toward others, mental health support and a shortage of providers, our process for acquiring guns, etc. Our family hunts and shoots targets for sport. But, although we support gun rights, the process to acquire needs attention. Death by shootings like these is a low percentage of mortality rate but combine that with the top, suicide, and the indications are clear. Stay thoughtful, kind and sweet as your action to spreading love and kindness.
