In the future you could put tyvek on the base paper before you collage if you want to reinforce the spine. You could also put out a short video to showcase a Gayle mail. Or change the order and make that the video for the next day instead of in 7 days.

First of all, I love, love, love the cheese sliding off the cracker thingy! 😂 I can identify with that many, many days! Secondly, I have a little game I’ve been playing as you sort through and make choices. I decide which one I’d choose and see if we’re in sync! It’s pretty fun...and we definitely have similar taste! Keep up the good work and don’t be too hard on yourself!! You’re a kind, beautiful person and we just appreciate you as you are!
One thought to strengthen the spine for this style journal cover where you are combining two sheets of paper and/or pages -- what about running a strip of Tyvek down the spine? Either on one or both sides. Since both sides are collaged, it wouldn't show, it is flexible, STRONG, and very thin. Though you can buy Tyvek new, I keep a stash of Tyvek shipping envelopes around for re-enforcing book projects.

Grrrrreat ideas! Makes me eager to get over to my table to do some makin’. You could have a 2nd tool at the other work station so you don’t have to find yourself sitting at one place without something you use all the time at each place. My mother had a large kitchen and a duplicate drawer of utensils so each side had what she needed. I poo-pooed that but now I totally understand the practicality of it. But it also reminds me of my university days living in a dorm. We had a “john bucket” to carry all our toiletry things to the communal bathroom. Here now I use trays and small clear storage bins with like things in them such as one has various glues, another has the punches I use most, and one with a few most used stamp and distressed pads. What I need is always near at hand. ✌️🇨🇦🙏❤️🐝🌸

Every day give us updates on the kids/grandkids (how is homeschool going and will they need to go back to school if it opens up before summer - lots of areas are just saying to heck with it and going straight from quarantine to summer vacay) and James Joseph; plus fairly recent events such as Bucky's cold, the neighbor's trees they were taking down, etc. Inquiring minds want to know. Oh, yeah, and we're nosy.

What a fun idea making journal covers...something to try today!! After cutting my last collage sheets I decoupaged napkin pieces and rice paper pieces to the journal cards and tags. Adds a whole new look to them!! 💜
Love this idea. If you have a favourite stamp, use it on white or coloured tissue paper with any coloured archival ink and mod podge on the card as well...it turns out great.

Hi Gayle! Oooooo, like the new cover idea. I think I'm going to do one like this. I am wanting to make a journal for my daughter. I don't know if you remember, but she is a major in the Marine Corp Reserves in charge of her own unit. Well, the thing I've dreaded most has turned into reality. She is being deployed to Kuwait. Supposed to leave on the 29th and will be gone until Nov. I'm really proud of her, but a bit concerned, too. Probably won't feel okay until she's back. Anyway, I'm putting a journal together for her, but couldn't get my head into what to do for a cover. This may just be just the thing. So happy you did this today; really appreciate the idea. Wish I could find the Tiffany & Company cards. My daughter's name is Tiffany and she is in charge of a company. No matter, I will look for some old ads for T&C and make my own. Also, don't want to sound funky here, but couldn't you just collage smaller pages going vertically and horizontally to get the right size for a cover? Then you just cut to the size you want for the cover. Just thinkin' out loud here. 😁 Oh my, cute bunny pocket. Love it! 💕 Old paper. Thick and fragile. Delicious stuff, eh? Hi Gayle, love this idea. I was thinking you could modpodge a piece of cotton fabric down the centre before you collage onto it to add strength to the finished cover or even collage straight onto the large envelopes that you use in your fabric covers. That would give you the size and added strength. Your finished cover was so gorgeous, definitely going to give this a try x
love how things evolve, off to give this a try! And I also have that tear ruler, and just realised it has a 'zero' in the middle, so its centering ruler too!
When I collage I put down with modpodge on bottom too but I think this is better to glue down then modpodge. When I use modpodge on bottom it tends to make the paper too wet and easy to tear and wrinkle.
