I started journaling as a young child. I think I got the idea as a young child because my older sister (by 5 years) always had a cute diary…so I wanted the same. As I got older and went through them faster, plus we were economically disadvantaged, I used composition notebooks and ballpoint pens. I continued to use those two materials until about 3 years ago, with the exception of a journal I kept for my son. This year is my first year using Tomoe River paper. Love it! I started using fountain pens last year. I do enjoy these materials (and a variety of inks) so that’s what I’m using at the moment.

Hi anicame2. Thanks for sharing your journey. I find that when I'm traveling or work and I've forgotten my notebook by accident (blasphemy I know), I'll reach for the complimentary pen and notepad in the hotel room and start scribbling away. Ironically enough, this past year was my first experience with Tomoe River Paper and I've fallen in love just like everybody else. Warm wishes and have a wonderful day!

I have been journaling in some shape or form during my whole life, but we didn’t called it journaling. It was more like ‘Dear diary’ format. , but I enjoyed it. In college most of my journaling was in the form of bullet style. During life after college, aka, the real world, I have been memory keeping after work and bullet style on the job. Now that I am retired, I don’t have a specific style, only making sure I share it with my children in a logical sense when I have left this world/universe. Thanks for clarifying each style. I enjoyed it!😊

Good video Frank and great points all around. I hope more people find your video as I can tell you spent some time putting it together. I don't know if I've heard the term "micro journaling". I usually sit in the mornings and write and then at times add to it in the evenings. When I find myself needing to journal more through the day I call it "journaling on the fly". Guess it's the same as micro j. I've journaled for decades. It grounds me, helps with all manner of things going on in my head, and is something I pretty much need to do on the regular. A quote I came across this past year that I really like and write at the beginning of my TN journal inserts is "This journal holds me and holds nothing against me".

Hi Paula, thanks for your kind feedback and sharing. I love that quote and might use it myself moving forward. Please excuse me while I reach for my TN and jot that down lol. Warm wishes and have a wonderful day!

I’d be interested to see you try solely journaling digitally for a month. Then discuss what you found about yourself and what you missed most about pen/paper. I recently found your channel through researching travelers notebook and I have really enjoyed your content for a month now! Thanks from Dallas, Tx!

Thanks for the idea. I wish I could do digital but I'm a complete luddite and I think I would miss the analog tools almost immediately. I'll toy with the idea and see if I'm up to do it some day. Warm wishes and have a wonderful day!

It was very reassuring to see that you are using different notebooks for different journaling styles. I always used a TN for daily tasks as well as reflecting on the day but found the combination impractical. The "small" reflections didn't really fit into my deep journal either. Last christmas, however, I was gifted another calendar notebook, but had already bought calendar refills for the TN. It felt kinda over the top to use 3 different journals (although its working for me), but seeing that I'm not alone with this, I'll put that believe aside :D

Journaling helps me with my mental health for sure. And I find when I’m upset, it helps provide some clarity and I feel much more calm afterward.

1:02 ... *Pocket Notebooks* have assisted me with my poor memory recall. *Bujo* journalling has over the past 20 yrs , not only improved my Life direction, organized my own life choices , but also has Maintained my growth and success, over the decades. My *Commonplace book* Journalling has inspired & directed me , into researching areas & people, (of the past) and subjects, that I would of never dreamed of. *Art Journalling* has not only sustained , but amplified my creative self. *Spiritual Journalling* has conserved my Sanity. The only shortcoming with Journalling that I've discovered is...There is not enough ink , in a fountain pen to continue the Scribbings of my hyper mind. LOL I tried the digital journalling, but got frustrated when my computer would crash or when the memory bank would become corrupted and I'd loose my 2nd BRAIN works. I instantly returned to the analog journalling style...with either pencil, ballpoint pen, gel pen, or fountain pen , or a mix of all...my mind returned to serenity , once again. Life is good. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, on this positive topic of journalling.

I have a mental health journal for clearing my mind. I intend to review and gave myself permission to destroy it when finished. Perfect for those cheap journals we often get for free. 😂

I use several journals, but my most useful is my brain dump journal that I use for venting and working through things that are bothering me. I don’t keep them as they aren’t a true reflection of me and there are things that could hurt people’s feelings if they read them.

Greetings from Australia. I enjoyed your video. I, too, have a Midori 5 year diary and into my second year. I always record the temperature. So it's good to see how the weather has changed over the years. BTW did you close your book on wet ink in the first example? A pet peeve of mine is to close onto wet ink, especially when it carries over

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by and sharing. Great question. You can't see it in the video, but I always have a sheet of blotting paper cut to size in my notebook. When I close it, the blotting paper soaks up the excess. Warm wishes and have a wonderful day!

Thank you! I thought it might be. I bought a TWSBI ECO Crème Rose Gold, and am in love with the way it writes. First TWSBI. Won’t be my last. Cheers!

This will sound pretty basic, but I get stuck on how to start to journal, & topics. I like the idea of journaling, but my life is quite dull lol.

Hey Jasper, Thanks for stopping by and sharing! I used to feel that way (getting stuck on how to get started). I still feel like my life is quite dull lol. That's not actually true but I did use to feel that way. The habit of journaling helped me see my life as anything but dull. Journal prompts are a great way to go if you haven't explored it already and remember journaling it just a tool. If it doesn't work for you, perhaps something else might spark your interest. Warm wishes and have a wonderful day!

@@StationeryAt4 Thank you for your guidance. To get me started, I think I’ll find topics on RU-vid, & hopefully that’ll get me started, & then snowball.

I would like to know if you have used the travelers company lightweight white insert. If so, what type of pen do you use?
@StationeryAt4
@StationeryAt4 7 месяцев назад
Hi Linda, Thank you for stopping by. Yes I have and do. It's the one featured in this video under micro journaling. I use fountain pens primarily but occasionally dabble in mechanical pencils and felt liners. Hope that helps. Warm wishes and have a wonderful day!
