Journalist, author, HardBall host, and former Capitol cop Chris Matthews describes his take on Jan 6 

Hardball host Chris Matthews started his political career as a Capitol Hill policeman. The Jan. 6 events are personal indeed. "I saw those men and women in uniform and thought 'that could be me.' I spent years in the Capitol, top aide to the Speaker, Senate legislative aide, cop, recognized all the places I’d been posted, the crypt, west terrace door, you go thru for Inaugural events. And I just felt violated. Cops, trying to hold back the crowd, getting attacked, spat upon, choked. They weren't ready to take on that onslaught, no riot gear, a lot wearing the uniform we would any day of the week.”
