An old cine film of Burscough from c1970 (originally filmed by Jim Johnson). It starts off outside the Bull and Dog pub, then down Lordsgate Lane to the old airfield remains. Then it focuses on building work at School House farm plus its decorated interior. But the last few minutes show a drive through Burscough, Liverpool Road South, Burscough Village, Moss Lane, then return through the village and up Junction Lane and on to Briars Lane.
If you have any old cine films / audio tapes / old photographs relating to Burscough or the surrounding areas (including HMS Ringtail), please contact me as I would love to be able to add more to the 'Images of Burscough' archive, for future generations.

Brings back a lot of memories I lived in Farm cottage on the airfield from 1962 to 1965. My father worked on the farm on the airfield and we used to play in the control tower and other building shown in the film

Wow! Thanks so much for posting this; I grew up in Burscough around this time. I used to play on the aerodrome in the disused blast shelters.

Great! I love Burscough and it was wonderful to see a clip from when I was little. My uncle owned Kennedy's sweet shop which you can see on the clip. Thanks. :-)

This is brilliant, the car goes down my street before the housing estate was built near the end!

I lived down Lordsgate Lane from 1969 to 1978 and have many happy memories of the biggest playground in the world...the aerodrome, which I now know to have been camp 3 at HMS Ringtail. The 'gang' I used to knock around with - mostly girls- came up with all kinds of names for what remained of the buildings and could only guess what their original use was.
