Who needs a lullaby when you have my videos, right? I'm glad they have a calming effect on you. Maybe I should start a "Sleepytime with cdplaya" series!
I feel like I'm at a sleepover in 5th grade after skateboarding all day, I'm popping in Fingers of Fury and Flying Fingers and showing my friends. I love that you are so knowledgable about the history. Didn't know anyone else was this into those videos as I was. I'd create cardboard ramps while watching Darin Langhorst showing me how it's done.
absolutely EXCELLENT video! brings me way back to when i was little fingerboarding with my brother on our basement floor with our PILE of techdeck ramps! Im in my mid 30s now still going to fingerboard events! Its so surreal hearing someone mention somerville international, i rode those ones, the xtreme joxx ones, as much as my techdecks!
seen all those old og clips, it's kinda fun that each of those had a uniqueness, like winkler already done that steez back in the days ,that today is being very common realism styles,he;s the og for realll
really nice that you highlight all the gripless riding from back then, especially since so many folks think that gripless fbers are just "sticking" to the board by using adhesive or something. there are so many ways to ride a fingerboard!
Absolutely! It was totally normal and accepted by the community until around 2003 or so 😆 I will say heelflips and nollie heels become a bit more trivial with the technique, but definitely check out Remi Garner (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zPiV52BF3bE.htmlsi=So-x5dk9-_lwlhN8) ! He is the gripless God and back in the old days was the top ranked fingerboarder in the old techdecks.com rankings!
I actually own one of his boards hahaha. it's practically impossible for me to use with the way I fingerboard, but it's really cool nonetheless that he created a product specific to his style. he shreds!@@cdplaya
Really great video man. I had to stop fingerboarding some years back due to arthritis. I miss it. Nice to see the old styles. I excepted to see the key chain fingerboards though (like in the thumbnail). That was the first type I owned (1989). Taking it to school and playing with it at my desk and around the school yard, was so much fun. 😎🤙
Sorry about the arthritis 😞 but epic that you started back then! I'm hoping to gather more information regarding fingerboards from that time, so I can make a video detailing the different styles and brands back then! Currently digging through library catalogues to see all the Skateboarder magazine issue with fingerboard ads haha
great video as usual man. I remember wanting that double decker curved ledge so bad. l think I'll make my own now. I am pretty sure I got both fingers of fury and flying fingers at our local KB toys. lol I think the fingers of fury came with a black plastic funbox. I am hoping I still have that ramp somewhere. I always liked the weird things people used to skate back then, my favorite was a plastic Marlboro sign that came of a display we found in the trash behind a mini mart, and a plastic jersey barrier that came with a uhaul toy. lol
Man this makes me so nostalgic for some old school 26ml Tech Deck fingerboarding lol. I remember i had one sheet of riptape a buddy gave me in high school (2007) which i had make last as long as possible. good times
