I agree! I grew up with Perry voice and I wish I can sing like him but I can't because his voice so good and high pitched voice!! Today He had solo album Trace is he very good voice and more older and voice still same like before!! I love SP best voice in the 80s.. I missed him already and Anrel is doing good job fill for him and Augeri is much better than Anrel!! Deen is good better voice in the band!! I will say Arnel out of the band and I rather have Deen to front man to singing!!

I was fortunate enough to have been at this very concert in 1981 in my hometown, Houston. I remember that Steve Perry announced that they were recording the entire concert for a future video release, and the crowd went nuts screaming! I'm so glad the entire concert was captured on video...what a great night that was! I'd go back to those days right now if I could.

"Any Way You Want It" & "Wheel In the Sky" I picked these two songs because I haven't seen any reactions on these songs. A lot of others react to "Separate Ways". Speaking of drummers, I don't know if you know about Def Leppard's drummer Rick Allen. He was in a car accident (I think it was a car accident) and lost his left arm. The band stood by him and he continued to drum with the band with one arm. I think it is an inspirational story.

Get to know Journey, it's time well spent. They are the group who introduced this kind of lighting, big screen, and stage effects like fireworks, etc. They were rock pioneers, who other groups emulated.

Neal's riff at the beginning is intended to mimic a train coming down the tracks toward you with the wailing mimicking train blowing it's horn as it passes. I was fortunate to see this group twice in the 80's and they are phenomenal. As others have said check out Mother Father from this concert-unbelievable.

I saw them on that tour. It was most excellent :). Reactors are doing songs from the Escape tour, but no one seems to be doing the actual song "Escape." I'm pretty sure you would like that one. Also, "The Party's Over (Hopelessly in Love)" and "Stone in Love." There's at least a dozen no one else is doing, but I'll save those for later.

Enjoyed the drum commentary. We’ve it heard this song so much over the last 40 years but looking at the song construction it’s very good. Another band deep with good songs, here are some of my favorites: “Feeling that Way/Anytime” - one song goes right into the other. “Faithfully”; “Lights”; “Wheel in the Sky”; “Just the Same Way”; “Separate Ways”; “Precious Time”

@@mickeyhank A few other songs that should be played back-to-back, because that's the way we grew up hearing them on the radio... "Silver Wheels/Crazy On You" from Heart "Travlin' Man/Beautiful Loser" from Bob Seger. (Live version) "We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions" from Queen

People have their favorites and those which they believe show off Steve Perry's voice the best. But when the band auditions a new singer they always choose "Faithfully" as the audition song because of the extended periods a singer needs to sing in the upper registers. They want to hear that range, the vocal control, power, and strength of vibrato. for that reason it's also my favorite ballad by them.

Journey is one of the greatest live bands ever!! Try some of these and be afraid to go live first... Mother, Father Who's Crying Now Wheel In The Sky Open Arms Lights Loving, Touching, Squeezing Feeling That Way Send Her My Love Put all the above on a dart board (live and studio) and you will hit bulls eye with every throw of a dart! That just shows you how good you had to be in the 60s 70s and 80s to make it big in the music world. You had to have a good or great singer, good lyrics, Play your own instruments. There are exceptions, such as Bob Dylan gravelly voice great songwriter. But in general you had to play and play well

The live Houston concert is my favorite version of "Don't Stop Belivin" so glad you chose it. Please react to "Still They Ride", also "Why Can't This Night Go on Forever" and the studio or video version of "Wheel in the Sky", the live version is up tempo and it's great for a change up but it's too short, and it's much too great of a song to be over so quickly!

big thing people need to remember is back in the days pre MTV (before music videos) bands got would open up for bigger bands and if they sounded good they would get more fans. If you sounded like shit, then you didn't and you didn't get asked to open or nobody was going to put a band that was not drawing people into a big venue. It all comes back to money, if you sound good, you get the bodies who spend the money. Who tells a friend who buys the album who goes to the show, who tells a friend who ..... Back when ugly AF people could make it in the business, now a day you have to be a fucking model just for someone to listen to you.

I remember that part... I was THERE... Glad you picked this live. Born and raised in Houston.. still live in the area in a suburb. Had to be early/mid 80s? Going to Google it. 1981 The Summit - Houston, Texas.. this is definitely the show we were at. I just visited with my bestie of over 40 years yesterday and I am going to double check with her because I remember that we went together (or met up there). We've seen so many concerts that I forget and she has to remind me.. from The Stones to John Mellencamp, Tom Petty, Dave Matthews, Guns N Roses, Stone Temple Pilots, Elton John, The Eagles, Simon and Garfunkel, a show at the cotton bowl with ZZ Top headlining, Santana was on that bill, Steely Dan, The Eagles.. just too many to count. New to your channel but loving the reactions. Peace and stay safe.
