Damn I hope they play this again sometime. One of the best songs done with Arnel and my favorite off Eclipse. Love the heavy and more modern sound but still Neal Schon at his best! Guitar is Amazing in this song!
Thanks for sharing your nicely taken video of Journey--I love it !! Another powerful and goosebumps performance of AP! He sings ballad songs full of soul and emotions and when he sings rock--the whole crowd rocks with him---he commands the stage with his incredible performance !! ,~AP has that tenor unique masculine voice that has a natural rasp that makes it amazing !! He masters the song perfectly and is able to sing like in-studio recording while he is doing Concerts on LIVE---night after night !!! AP"s vocal versatility, talent, and unbelievable energy are the fuel that keeps the Journey Concert rocking for many years !! Can't wait to see Journey Concert with AP again--SOON !!
This is one of my favorite songs done with Arnel Penida. He's not identical, but close enough. And the band's music hasn't changed. They're still the same. (:
They made several offers to Steve Perry to come back to the band but he refused them all. Steve has an iconic voice and is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for a reason but Journey wanted to reform. If Steve didn't want to be a part of that then their only choice was to continue without him.
I just recently sat down and listened to this album. I honestly don't get the hate for it. It may be that it's a little heavier than a lot of Journey fans want but it's still unmistakably Journey. I've been listening to this song in particular over and over again.
@@Maddogg-hg5me Its a fantastic album. I think the change in style upset some hardcore fans, but it is worth remembering Neal has probably been wanting to get back to a more hard rock sound for a while. At their peak it probably wasn't a smart idea to change their style up, but now decades removed from those days Neal is free to go back to his roots from the Pre-Perry days of Journey. If I were to be objective Eclipse probably is better than Trial By Fire, but it's hard to remain objective about Steve's last album with the band. Either way, its a fantastic album and gets me excited for their next release.
... Steve Perry and Arnel Pineda are 2 different persons ....they are not supposed to sound the same . They are both excellent singers no doubt about that ...so we should stop these comparisons !!! They both gave a valid contribution to Journey ..and in my opinion its all that matters .
Fucking sucks that we'll never get to hear anything from Eclipse ever played live again. That album was one of their absolute best, but all the old fans had to throw a massive shit fit because it didn't sound like Escape all over again.
@ Randall Wong, I looked for City of Hope performance after reading your comment. Found it in the Las Vegas show last July. Hope they will add more songs from Eclipse, my absolute favourite album.
Great song. I really don't see why there's so much hate for this album unless people just don't like the fact that Journey decided to go in a little heavier direction on this one.
I listen to some lyrics of this album and expect the wording to be different from how it ends out. I hear "edge of the...." and expect it to be "edge of the world" but it isn't. Am I just thinking weirdly?
If this song was recorded by a different band it’d be huge hard rock hit, but since its “Journey” it gets compared and bashed compared to Steve Perry stuff.
