Back in the 70's , here in" Chicag😎 " . Journey would play 3 night weekends. I would attend all 3 night's , , , Steve Perry " era " Jonathan Cain on keys🎹 ( he wrote " Faithfully ).( Ross Valiery bass🎸) ,( Steve Smith drums ). ( Neil Schon Lead 🎸 ). Neil played in Carlos Santana's band as s teen. " They were Phenomenal at the concerts" . Steve's voice was off the Hook ! ! , ". 💜🇺🇸🎶🎤👆🙏🙌
@@vinceschouten46 He still does play with Carlos from time to time. BTW Steve and band members used to order Pizza from me when he was in town visiting his Grandma (I think). I ran into at various places including the local bowling alley where they were playing pinball (this was in the small town of Hanford, California). Really nice guys and they had nice motorcycles.
History is amazing because it helps us know where we have come from and why the world is currently where it is. Having access to a tool such as RU-vid, to see and hear talented people with positive messages, should be a goal of every person with access....and many do not have that. Keep your head high and enjoy the journey. You have a lot of people supporting you. 😉
I am a black woman from chicago in my late 40's! i listen to all kinds of music from Soul, R&B, to old school rap, heavy metal, country , & rock music! i love it all! so u listen to whoever u want and any type of music! if people dont like it screw them!!! Bravo for stepping outside the box!!!!
If you are looking for a rabbit hole of music to fall into you won’t find anything better than Journey and Steve Perry’s solo stuff. It’s really good. Greatest rock vocalist of all-time!
Ignore him luv. I love watching you grow with something new and that has meaning. I'm a 52 year old white Grandma and I see your heart ready to explode with excitement. He's a moron! Rock on 🎶🎵🔊
Your so right, the music in this country can't compare because back then it wasn't just about making tons of money.People had talent and wanted to express it. BTW i've been married to the same man for 40 years. It hasn't been easy but we hung in there through the bad times and didn't jump the ship when thing got bad, as so many do today! Also, it doesn't matter what color you are, we all bleed red blood, we are all brothers and sisters in this human race and have to lift each other up not tear each other down. Peace out!
I’m so glad you focused on Journey. As an “Old Timer” who saw them live on 3 occasions...concert tickets ran $12.00 so we could...there were many goosebumps during their shows. My generation had to learn how to play and sing on one recording take. That is until recording companies went to using 8 tracks. Now the music is overly processed via Autotune and the quality is not there for many. Some Artists can play and sing but it’s rare. I’m glad you enjoyed this song. It’s still amazing after all these years. Peace.
Regarding the person who asked why “you people” are only reacting to a certain type of music, you were right to regard that type of comment with suspicion. Music is a gift from God. No door is closed to you regarding appreciating all different types of music from all different types of cultures and backgrounds. Keep up the good work.
I don't think "you people" was a racial slur. Simply meant you people that do reaction videos. When I first started watching reaction videos, it seemed as though everyone was reacting to the same songs, not just the same type of songs. I wanted to see reactions to different songs, not the same ones over and over. But now I like comparing reactions to the same song. It is nice to see younger people liking my generation's music. Keep it up!
Steve Perry has one of THE most beautiful voices in the world, second only to Freddie imo. Please do "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'", one of Journey's best!💙 And you're right. Artists of the 60's, 70's, into the 80's had more heart & soul (& talent) than just about any you hear today. And I'm talking about both black & white. I grew up listening to both. There's a big difference between now & then.
Hahaha, the look on your face when Steve soared on that high note; it was one of total awe and bewilderment. My friend, we STILL have that same reaction, 37 years later. 😊❤️
Making great music was the main goal, making money was the result, now it's about making a quick buck with whatever's popular right now and most music ends up sounding catchy, but unoriginal, therefore most of it won't stand the test of time like most music from the 20th century has, even some one hit wonders are better than some so called artists entire discographies right now lol
The ending part of the video really captures all the bands emotions singing this song. Almost underlying the point that the fans are truly the ones they are most faithful to
A lot of people and you-tubers have been on this same musical"Journey". A shitload of people have been to Disneyland. That doesn't mean that people should stop going to Disneyland, and it doesn't mean that you shouldn't be on this journey. Enjoy yourself.
Your right brother! Back then music was on a whole different level! It made you FEEL AND CONNECT! It wasn't just a means to make you famous and rich like these days! Journey is my favorite band and the best example of when music is done right!
@@sweetscientist8441 Speaking of Kenny Rogers, his duet of "We've Got Tonight" with Sheena Easton is magic. And Dolly Parton is wonderful, I love her version of "I Will Always Love You" just as much as Whitney's. I would never be able to decide who sang it best.
YAYYYYY!!! Thank you so very much JBLETHAL for reacting to some of my suggestions!! I watched how Steve Perry's voice poured over your soul like liquid gold! Journey Steve Perry's "The Voice" A nickname given to him by Bon Jovi Is hands down (in my opinion) the BEST vocalist in history! The lead guitarist Neal Schonn was in a band with Carlos Santana! Later on, Randy Jackson was in Journey! Please react to some more of their song! "Open Arms" "Separate Ways" "Wheels In The Sky" "Don't Stop Believing " "I'll be Alright without you " "Lovin, Touching, Squeezing " ETC.....
Forget that racial crap, my Brother. Do what you're doing. Its good, it's right, and it's appreciated. I'm white, and wanna hear your perspective. Thank you, Sir. Keep up the good job!
Hey man just keep doing what you are doing reacting to REAL music and ignore all of these idiots and their STUPID comments! JOURNEY is one of the greatest bands EVER! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
Hi Sweetheart. I love your reactions and I love you. You give me hope for the younger generation with your respect and kindness. God bless you, keep doing what you're doing.
Hey can Steve Perry hold out a note or what!?! Yep that’s what it was like. Listen James. Remember those closed minded people, also have self limiting beliefs. Which hurts only themselves. Because they don’t grow. Sad. But we all know that’s not you! Keep growing my friend! Hugs❤️
These are basically the most incredible songs ever written or performed And die for one people that are younger, who can listen to music like this, and realize that it will never be like this again
This was personal for Steve. Everyone held up their Bic lighters to show their respect. Yeah, you keep on reacting and a big 😝 to that dude. BTW lead guitarist, Neil Schon made many of his guitars.
Please please do not ever stop exploring all these artist from the past! It's true nothing compares to the music from the past. It's soul healing. You have also inspired me to relive this epic music which is healing my soul. Much love 🙏🏼
Powerful, passionate and I believe fully honest by Steve......we had so many great artists that I won't say he was the best but ..... he's sure as hell "way up there!" God bless you, JBLETHAL AND STEVE PERRY!
You should react to this song live. Perry has the purest voice in rock history with the most range ever in my opinion. I prefer the more soulful rock voices like Paul Rodgers from Free, Bad Company and his blues solo music. But there’s no denying the ridiculous talent of Steve Perry. Dude was so pure and flawless.
The 70's and 80's were my music. I love watching these songs touch the souls of others the way they did for me back when they were first introduced to the world.
2 buses, 2 transport trucks full of equipment on the road 24/7 365 days. Arenas, stadiums to set up week after week. 1 bus for the band, 1 bus for the crew. It is a huge logistical effort to bring those concerts to everyone. Saw 3 concerts in my time, so thanks to all that made it possible.
Please don’t listen to those people, I love what you’re doing! It’s so amazing to see someone else who feels this music like I do. Journey is one of my favorite bands. Never get tired of listening to the old school Steve Perry Journey!
I have stood by my man for 42 years of marriage. Lots of good music helped get me through the thick and thin. The bad times....and there was plenty. Music is such a resource, a balm.
It's great that you are finding some of the greatest voices ever gifted to contemporary humans, Freddie Mercury, Steve Perry, John Denver, Karen Carpenter and so many others as well as people from opera and classical music. Have you listened to Mama Cass Elliott from the Mamas and the Papas? Powerhouse. Janis Joplin could blow your socks off. You HAVE done many styles so your critic, whoever it was, hasn't been listening. So glad you're still reviewing.
Sometimes we get so amazed by the great lyrics and perfect voices of Journey, Styx, and Foreigner that we forget to appreciate how incredibly talented they were as musicians on guitar, keyboard, and drums. We just don't hear bands play instruments like this anymore.
Journery... open arms!!! One of their best. Bruce Springsteen... but one of his best... My Home town... It will make you cry!! Also, Glory days & Born in the USA.. awesome songs too. Styx & REO are amazing bands too!! Tons of great music... and Lover Boy.. I could go on. It was a great generation to grow up in!!!
Faithfully !! what a great song. Love 💝💋 Steve Perry and journey. I'm still hopeing for a reunion tour. Now that Steve perrys Back It still may happen. 👌💖
Genres are varied. Jazz Rock Oldies Acid rock Good luck on your journey! Have a blast with the past. 67 year old Boomer here loves to see your honest reaction to the musical score of our lives.
Love to you, man, for honoring your grandmother the way you do! True music touches the soul in a way that can't be denied. Empty music, young or old, leaves you wanting for something better.
Hey J dont you let anyone ever tell you what to listen to. music is our universal voice so yell it loud and proud!!!im gonna!!!😁....p.s. Love your reactions very much✌😁👍
PLEASE keep reacting to these amazing songs! It does my heart good to see the younger generation discover the songs that shaped my life in the 70's and 80's . My sons , in their late 20's, love 80's music as much as my husband and I do.
I was lucky enough to see Journey 3 times back in the 80's when Steve Perry was still with them. I remember waiting in line for 9 hours to get tickets but it was well worth it....I still even have the ticket stubs. Some people may think the lighter thing was dorky but when you're actually at the concert hearing the song, "Faithfully" live with the lights turned down and thousands of lighters lit across the arena...it was a sight to see.
I appreciate your heartfelt honest opinion about what you should and shouldn't discover. You are spot on about the emotional element that Rock punches you in the heart with. The tempo and the delivery are long lost tools that brought Gazillions of people to concerts. Steve Perry always had an emotional performance coupled by his unmatched voice that brought the girls to their knees. Nobody in my opinion was a better performer in that age. I went to 5 Journey concerts and he was always a sweat soaked mess half way through but his voice never failed him once. Keep up the great work my friend. The world needs it!
Together with my wife 40 years now. She has been my rock thru many deployments in the army. We met in a disco in Germany when I was stationed there in the 70's.
Oh, Lord. I was raised on gospel music but I listened to Motown from the time I was 10 years old as well as classical, blues, , 50, 60, 70 music, and a sprinkle of country. I'm white but never stopped me from having favorite artists such as The Drifters, Temptations, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Supremes, Mahalia Jackson (my favorite female gospel singer) and the Barrett Sisters. People are missing out by not listening to various artists.
Darlin, if you only knew what it was like to grow up back then!!! My kids loved the music I grew up with, too!!! Thank you for appreciating the awesome music and talent from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, even 90’s!!!! Love your sweet, soft voice.
Luckily there are more good people than there are haters. I love watching reaction videos! There's a lot of people watching your videos too, so forget the hater! Let me tell you something, this music is the soundtrack of my life. I grew up listening to this music, I'm 53 yrs old. Born in 1967 and this is what we listened to. I love watching people who have never heard these songs, it amazes me. It seriously puts a smile on my face! Yeah, we're locked down in our homes right now but I found these reaction videos, so I'm listening to my favorite music and seeing you experience this greatness for the first time! Priceless! They call Steve Perry "The Voice"! He has a 3-octave range!
It is so great that you are reacted to Journey. I have to say that Steve Perry has such an amazing voice. Their music is amazing but there is nothing like seeing them live. Their concerts were nothing short of phenomenal. I continue to come to your channel not only for the music and your reactions but because you have such a sweet soul. No matter what music that you listen to if it touches you in some way then that is what it is all about. Whether it is Elvis..my favorite lol.. Andrea Bocelli..Luke Bryan..the carpentars..Kenny Rogers..rap..hop hop R&B if you enjoy it it truly does not matter what anyone else thinks. Sadly people enjoy being hurtful. Yoh always stay true to who you are and at the end of the day that is something to be proud of. I always enjoy your channel and.i know that so many others do as well...sometimes i e persons success can vause another to be jealous or hateful. K ow that you are loved by many here...keep up the great work. Tha k you for bringing all of us together through music.
I've seen Journey 3 times now, twice with Arnel on vocals, and once with stand-in Jeff Scott Soto back in 2006. All great shows. Both singers extremely capable of representing those Steve Perry classics, but man oh man, I would be all over the chance to see Steve front the band for one more tour and would gladly break my wallet to do so.
I absolutely love watching reactions from people who have never heard this music. I always say...I was extremely blessed to grow up in the 80's. And all my kids kno all this music and love it! They can sing it word for word.
As a musician and as someone who grew up with and LOVE Journey. Chicago, and Richard Marx. I commend you for learning about music that you've never heard before. Music expands your mind and soul and whatever you like or listen to has a profound impact on you. Music is sound waves and that speaks to your soul. Rock on. 😀
I loved watching the emotional look in your eyes while you listened. You're a good man and you'll make a great partner to a lucky woman. Keep your mind open Friend, we love it! ❤
"Faithfully" came out in 1983. Their keyboardist wrote it. When I saw Journey play the L.A. Forum last year, he explained the story behind the song, it was fascinating. I recommend "The Price" (1984) by Twisted Sister.
The great Steve Perry. What a voice. His range is fantastic. Pitch perfect. Stood by mine through thick and thin and didn't ask for a pat on the back. I worked hard, was the bread winner, no welfare handouts, and raised my two on my own without any of his support. There are more women out there like me than you realize.
These songs ( and many others ) were a GREAT part of my High School life. Music BEFORE MUSIC VIDEOS, I graduated High School in 1982 BEFORE MTV. This was AWESOME THEN and brings back ASWEOME Vibes and memories now
The music back then was soo good. Many of the band's and not a particular favorite. Well, I do have 2 and that's Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd. As far as music in general we listened to everything. Great bands and awesome concerts. AND this music was made for ALL of us to enjoy. Happy to be a part of your share in the music back then.
