Prince actually contacted Journey to get clearance, prior to releasing Purple Rain single, as he noticed he coincidentally had Faithfully's same 4 chorus chords in the same order. They said no worries, go for it.
Yep and you can hear it too. The amazing things and goes to show how incredible they all are and were (rip Prince) as musicians. These are not overly complicated chords, or progressions. Nothing complex, yet timeless emotional, soulful music
@@julielovelace7189 Not better than Freddie Mercury's though. And are you implying that men can not judge a great voice? I like Journey and seen them in their prime, but I find it funny women keep saying BEST EVER. Men just acknowledge how great it is.
jacksprat418 Steve Perry is the best male singer ever. Better than Freddie Mercury. Queen in their prime was a middle of the road band. Journey was huge because of “The Voice”.
You've heard this song everywhere. It's impossible to have inhabited this planet without hearing it in a movie, a gas station, shopping mall,.... even in an elevator lmao. You e definitely heard it, along with other journey songs. You just didnt know it.
He was faithful. He spent the past few years with his dying girlfriend. Now he is relaunching his career as a tribute to her last request as I understand it.
That voice. That voice. Oh, man. Still moves me. Billy, you've gotta hear "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'" (always have to stop & think what order those are in). And "Oh Sherrie" is a great song that was a solo hit for Steve.💙
These are good but...Wheel in the Sky, Anyway You Want It, Lovin', Touchin' Squeezin' shall I go on? Saw them during this tour got the new ones and the hits from back in the day and they all rocked.
I don't normally post, but I have to say your reaction was one of the best I've seen. You got it. The emotion. The message. The commitment. This is a truly great song sung by a truly great singer who FELT it. Thanks!
"Lovin, touchin, squeezin", "Lights", "Any Way You Want It"(rock ballad I'm sure you've heard), "Who's Crying Now", "Wheel in the Sky", "Open Arms"(you had to have heard this one on a movie or ad) all great Journey songs
First time watching you. Faithfully is my favorite song and I'm glad you liked it. Steve always sing songs that way, with emotion, makes you believe him. Awesome!
You gotta react to Open Arms by Journey it is probably the most emotional rock ballad I have ever heard and to me it is tied for being my favorite song of Journey's.
You just played 1 of the very best voices in history. All their stuff is amazing. Please play more. I'm asking for the old songs with Steve Perry, not the guy they have now.
I DON'T like the "NEW Journey" EITHER, NO Thanks, NO how, NO way, NO, NO, NO, NO. 👎 🤔 There will NEVER BE ANOTHER Original JOURNEY WITH "THE VOICE" (Steve Perry), NEVER (sobbing). 💔 😢 How i WISH to GOD that i could GO BACK TO THE BEST TIMES of MY YOUTH... The late 70's and 80's when i was Still in Jr. High School and High School DISCOVERING REAL AWESOME MUSIC From REAL TALENTED BANDS (NOT like the crappy 💩 "Music" that we have Nowadays), Lmbo! 😝 😂 #70sBandswereRealCool #80sMusicwasSoAwesome
The line “through space and time…” always gets me. Now in my 50’s I would give away half of possession to have been there more. Don’t make that mistake I have made. It’s always the journey (no pun intended) and everyone you share it with, not the destination.
That voice... Wow.. Each member of the band has mastered their instruments but Steve's voice is unbelievable, his emotion is out there for all to see and that's why this song is as timeless as it is.
If you close your eyes and just listen and let yourself get lost in the song, it gives you chills!!! Steve Perry’s voice with Journey is so Iconic!!! One of my absolute favorite groups!!!
This song speaks to a lot of people who have to deal with separation, from truck drivers to military. I listened to it A LOT when my hubby was deployed.
The year was 1983, and the album was Frontiers!! The BEST concert I've ever been to!!! You should react to Mother Father live from the 1981 concert in Houston, Tx concert!!! Steve Perry is the MOST PASSIONATE singer EVER!!! That is why us fans call him The Voice!!
@@lromero8181 ..... RIGHT?! The live version from Houston, is simply breath taking!!!! It's such a powerful and yet beautiful song!! I really hope he does a reaction to it!!
@@michaelhylton6691 ........ Mother Father has always been one of my most favorite songs from the Escape album. That one and Escape and Still They Ride!! All 3 are underrated songs! And you know what?! Come to think about it, I don't think I've ever heard other live versions of M/F! Have you?? But yeah, that live Houston concert was and still is the best live concert from Classic Journey!! My bother was at that concert. It was very rude of him for not taking me! :-)
I've never seen another live version of mother father with Steve singing, there are audio versions with him singing but not with the video. Check out the 1983 Still they ride live Tokyo version with Steve. Excellent version, excellent song.
There was a bus for the artists, a bus for the engineering crew and 4 tractor trailors that went from concert to concert. A year on the road. For 8 years. 2 month break each year to record a new album that went platinum each time. Always arenas and stadiums to accomodate sell out concerts. 2 MTV vjays compared them as Americas Led Zeppelin. Music still holds up today and passes the test of time.
The guy you said looked so miserable and was missing his wife actually wrote this song for her. Jonathan Cain. Unfortunately they didn't stay together. Steve Perry, the lead singer, was dating Sherry Swafford who he wrote Oh Sherry for.
Steve was a friend of mine for many years I’d like to say we still are. What made him great he wrote and sang from real life experiences. That’s truly what caused him to walk away. He has always been a one woman man and because of the travel he could never keep a girlfriend. I grew up with his girlfriend Sherry the one from his video. (Oh sherry ) she is the true reason he walked. She broke his heart he tried everything but giving up journey. Until it was to late. Sad thing is when he did finally found true love she ended up dying of cancer that’s why his new Lp is so sad he wrote from his heart.
Open Arms, After the Fall, The Girl can't Help it, I'll be Alright Without You, and Who's Crying Now. All Classic Journey. Steve Perry's voice is phenomenal and Neal Schon was playing second Guitar to Carlos Santana while still in his teens. An underrated guitarist. Randy Jackson played with them ( You can see him in The Girl Can't Help It video) has always called Steve The Voice. Maybe you heard it on Glee.
Billy, you gotta check out ALL of the 80s and early 90s Journey music, (Infinity, Escape, Frontiers, Raised on Radio, and Trial By Fire) plus Steve Perry's albums, Street Talk, For the Love of Strange Medicine, and his latest album, released last October, Traces. Steve is now 70, but his voice is still great!
the piano guy Cane wrote this song when they were on tour back in the 1980's. This song has many meanings from husband/wife separated because one is over seas during war, band members on the road away from loved ones, and it could be about the current one you love/you miss them when you are apart from them even just for the day.
From my day. No stronger voice, with emotion attached since. I still have a hope that our younger folks are going to go back to faithfulness and romance.
Trivia Time! ~ This song was written by one of the band members (keyboardist Jonathan Cain) for his first wife. He is describing the strain that band life has on a relationship. He also wrote the song 'Don't Stop Believin'.
Gotta react to the Official music video for Steve Perry's song "Oh Sherrie". Steve is the lead singer for Journey... that was his biggest solo hit. As for Journey.. here's some good deeper cuts... "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" - "Anytime" - "La Do Da" - "Mother, Father" - & "Rubicon"
