What a fascinating culture. A people from the deserts of Arizona who would collect shells from the ocean to honor their ancestors and decorate them with creativity. How great, I wish the Tohono O'odham good tidings. Stay strong as your ancestors did!
@@makotothomason8042 its a burden for most natives. But the same goes for anyone. Everyone has complex past and history here. However us natives need to get our histories right, so we know where were going... Ahxe'heé to all my relations shiké nizhoníígoo dooleeł ahé'hée.. shídiné dóó (Navajo)
This is beautiful. And this is important! You need 1,000 of these videos, or even more. Every way of life, every art form, every food preparation, every word, and especially every belief MUST be documented and preserved and here is RU-vid which (appears to be) a permanent, easily accessible tool for your culture to use in such preservation. I remember when some audio tapes of your language got trashed at a school or something. Not good!! Every elder has something of value, and every young person of your tribe needs exposure this if your culture is to survive or thrive. You must build a community to capture these things, TO Nation! Your museum is beautiful, and vital, but the web is probably the safest, most durable, inexpensive, and easily accessible place for you to storehouse these many aspects of TO life if you are really to culturally preserve them. Your schools could teach kids to make these videos, some might not be great, but at least they would endure. I once had an idea to form a bus route for children to go from place to place on your res where they could go to see important cultural preservation, but it was going to be expensive, and only a one time shot, one child at a time. Just look at the power of this one video, how it will endure, how it is available anywhere and anytime. You have made a good start, but barely a start. Please go interview Sterling Johnson's dad, Cy, a TO hero of our times too please.
Respect our ancestors and their ancestral lands. I love my country, México, but that doesn't change the facts, the truth can never be erased and forgotten....the truth will set you free...❤✊🏽💯
Just learning about your culture and I did not know you had such a tie to the ocean! The desert and the ocean are my two favorite places to be on this beautiful blue ball we call home. Thank you for posting this!
Where is this ocean? how far from the reservation? So excited about this video. I just was informed that I shared DNA to this part of the country. So is there any Lucero's, Mendoza, Matus or Garcia living there?
It's Mar de Cortez, its a gulf in Mexico, absolutely gorgeous beaches, tiled in sea shells by the trillions. Sorrounded by desert dunes... craters all in the Sonoran Desert❤️🇲🇽
