@@rosemarieaspira3450 time marches on, Steve left for reasons beyond what we as normal people can understand. Fans are selfish and want things as they were , just doesn’t work for many bands. Very few have the original members for more than a few years. I’m happy that the music I like can be carried on.

I've been a journey fan for longer than 25 years. I've seen them more then a dozen times... this is one of my favorite tunes. Our years of live journey are short...this is so good regardless of who is singing. This guy nailed it and I love it

This and "I'll Be Alright Without You" are my two favorite Journey songs, and up 'til now they've rarely done them, but now they are in this Las Vegas residency. If they do these at the May 5th show in Indianapolis, I'm going to bawl my eyes out.

Has Journey decided who's in the band yet? They announce Jackson and Narada and then we see everything but that lineup and it just keeps getting stranger. I preferred Journey Through Time anyways.

Todd Jensen played in Petty Fever who my band got to open for this summer. Also found out he played bass on Hardline's album Double Eclipse in 92 of which I've been listening to since then. Crazy.

sounding very nice but I would have liked to hear a better live mix on the vocals as the harmony out powered the lead, he did a fantastic job!! every member of this band can sing and sing very well, its what has always made journey such a powerhouse vocal group

Journey has been dropping and adding members since it's FORMATION. The original drummer, Aynsley Dunbar, who was considered a HIGHLY proficient drummer, was targeted by Perry early on and subsequently fired and replaced by a more laid back personality in Steve Smith, who was formerly in Montross. Greg Rollie simply LEFT when he saw which way the wind was blowing and Johnathon Cain replaced him, that wound up being the 'lineup' in many people's eyes...until Perry left and, after a temporary replacement, the band hired Arnel to front the band. Valory and Smith tried to stage a coup to wrestle control of the band away from Cain and Schon which is why you see a completely different group...but the heart of Journey is still there as Neal is the ONLY completely ORIGINAL member as it was HE and Greg Rollie that began the project back in 1974...it was THEM that recruited the rest of the band.

Steve sang great when they originally recorded the hits but he can't hit the high notes anymore... his last performance he sang the songs down a key or two and didn't cut it...

@@40colby that’s a total lie, Perry can hit high notes but he can’t do the alien high notes he did in Wheel in the Sky during Schon’s guitar solo - but neither can any of these singers. The Eels show doesn’t count because he was rusty and hadn’t been singing for 25 years, and was only performing for fun. He hit high notes on 2018 Traces.

Agreed. This is first time they’ve played this song in 20 years, should have Deen singing this, Mother Father, Suzanne, Still They Ride, Patiently, Ill Be Alright Without You, I think Deen would be only one able to pull off Why Cant This Night On Forever too

@@jjc4058 That's fair - but Deen was the lead vocalist for JTT. The most I ever saw him sing was 4 (back in 2004 Detour tour). At this point, to give AP a rest, I would be fine with 2 from Jason and 2 or 3 from Deen.

@@markrushton1516 Perry has had two solo albums make the Billboard Top 10 since he returned to music in 2018. He can sing. Jon 5 the guitarist worked with him and said in interviews that Perry still sounds like the voice on the radio that he grew up with.

Deen has a natural tenor voice, which is unusual for a drummer. Deen clearly outclasses Arnel on sons like “Mother, Father, Who’s Crying Now, Stilll They Ride, etc. Amazing he can sing high tenor while drumming simultaneously.

Jason is a great singer no doubt, but now Journey has 3 singers. Deen, Jason and Arnel. I'm sure they are just giving Arnel a break. At the end of the day, they are performing the music very well, but they are turning into a Journey tribute band.

FYI, Steve Perry has not been in the band in almost 30 years. Plus, there’s a reason he didn’t sing at the rock hall of fame presentation. He can’t hit those notes anymore.

@@briandavis2885 that’s not true at all. Perry didn’t sing at RRHOF out of respect for Arnel. Perry has had 2 top 10 Billboard albums since then when he returned to music, he uses no autotune and songs sre still recorded in one take.

@@briandavis2885 he didn’t at all want to perform at RRHOF because he divorced the band in 1998 and wasn’t even going to go originally. He can hit the high notes and did in his new album, he did the soaring background vocals on “Sunshines Gray”. The band lowered the key for Arnel who can’t hit most of the high notes, so your argument is moot. Deen is the only one who can hit some of the high notes in original key.

Foks, Arnel Arnel is entertaining on stage, but often goes flat mid song. Deen can hit the notes, but he also tends to go metal and screams a few notes, this new guy actually was on tune throughout the song, and he sounded pretty good. I agree, the bass player probably can back off the vocals.

Doesn’t matter if Steve is singing or not he’s still making a ton of money off Journey through his lucrative buy out, and will continue to make money. The only way he will make more is if he does come back as the lead singer. I hope they all can set their differences aside and come back together for one Final Tour as the original Journey and then if Steve wants to leave he will leave on his own. Then they can continue without him. To many bands made bad decisions in the past and band members passed away or like in the Beatles situation John was murdered. That sank a Beatles Reunion once and for all.

You would have had an equally painful musical life when the electric guitar came out, you would have whined that it wasn't a real guitar tone.

@Death Threat hes got a style/sound akin to female singers, but it's not what I would want for a rock band. Sure he would win on talent shows for vocal acrobatics, but that's not what rock music vocals are about, to me anyways.
